Hey all
My 2 yo has this white mark on his eye. Does anyone know what it is & if there is anything the vet can do ?

My boy Steve has the exact same thing on his left eye I want to say. Just a small white kinda mark that goes into the iris. Doesn’t seem to affect him and on his vet visits no one has pointed it out.

I even recently acquired the Rodentologist book that lists some piggy ailments and goes into detail on some common eye problems, but even that did not pick up on this.

Certainly do see a vet if concerned. I’m no vet by any means but from seeing Steve with it, it does not seem to cause any bother to him or affect his sight.

Thank you, I will keep an eye on it, see if it grows, I've not noticed it before. I found something on line for it - Heterotopic ocular bone formation (calcium deposition), there are a few articles. basically saying, there is no treatment & not necessary, prognosis is good, but they are unsure of the association with glaucoma, it says keep an eye and continue with periodic ocular examinations to monitor for development of intraocular pressure elevation.... www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

I would still take him to a vet. There is a lot of (mis)information on the internet and it’s always best to have something looked at by a cavy savvy vet.
