:( Harry was castrated about a week and a half ago, when I took him in for his post op check I pointed out that he had quite a lot of swelling in the area and was told it was just post op swelling that was to be expected, I took him back a few days later because it was bigger and on both sides and the vet told me it was just blood and fluid build up that would go naturally but he gave me some anti-inflammatory medicine to give to him and said to check him again today. I took him in this morning and a different vet saw him and said she was concerned that it was an abcess, which was what I tried to say to the first vet when i took him in the second time, he's been drained under anaesthetic and I've just had a call from the vet to say it's really bad and I might loose him.

I'm reeling as I've only just lost Oreo
Harry and Oreo had a huge falling out hence why Harry was castrated so he could live with some of my girls like Oreo was. I feel so guilty :(

I'm sorry to hear about your run of bad luck. I have everything crossed for you and Harry.

Huge hugs, times like these just aren't fair :(. x

BIG HUG!

If he survives his op (which I really hope!), can you ask for zithromax (azithromycin) antibiotic? It has saved Hywel's life (who was also seen by vet who didn;t have a clue what he was dealing with). It does work especially well with bad abscesses and infections.

If your vets wants more info, ask him to contact Simon Maddock in Northampton. He's a guinea pig specialist who has researched it.

Make sure that you get critical care and probiotics if Harry comes out.
All fingers crossed here!
