Has anyone been to see “Keeper of the Pigs” at your local cinema?

Have you?
No, but it’s on on Saturday down here in Cornwall and I thought I might take my granddaughters. I think one of the ladies has a rescue in the Midlands. I have seen they were at Leicester a few weeks ago

That’s a shame but I assume they must be showing around the country at various places. I’ll keep an eye out 😊

No luck with with anywhere near us, when I looked a while ago.
Also thought it was supposed to be on Amazon prime, but everytime I get the OH to search we can’t find it.
If you go, you will have to ket us know what you think.

Is it on Utube?

I will, OH won’t go so I’m hoping the girls have nothing planned already as I don’t really want to go on my own

I don't think we have a cinema anymore, perhaps it will be on at the one near my daughter. I'm going to hers tomorrow I will try and find out. I have heard parts of it are difficult to watch, especially the bits in Peru.

Have a great time away x

I haven't seen it but I know the pic above is Shez from Avalon rescue in Nottingham and some filming was done at Cavy Corner too and am sure I saw a pic of Winston's funeral with his coffin covered with paintings of guinea pigs. If it ever appears on You Tube I would like to watch it (but if Peru is heart-wrenching maybe not)

I think it's going to be on in separate episodes so you could miss that one out. I can't remember where I saw an article on it, may be Guinea Pig Magazine? It said it was difficult to film but also in some ways uplifting because although they are bred as a food source they are treated like little gods and given a good respectful life. That's not a direct quote, it's the gist from an aged memory!

I spent a day in Nicaragua quite a few years ago and our group had a cooked lunch at a hotel. I asked what the food was but none of the waiters spoke English so I didn't eat anything in case there was a guinea pig involved. I would never have forgiven myself

I watched a documentary about guinea pigs recently. Some of it was filmed in Peru. I struggled to watch certain parts but in the main the piggies seemed to have a better life than most meat animals.

It's worse because they are still recognisable as guinea pigs due to them leaving everything on when they cook them! 😞
I suppose we have to respect their culture. It’s not easy when you are a Guinea pig lover. I used to keep chickens but also ate supermarket/butchers ones. They have a pretty horrible life

I would love to see this film (I follow their page on Facebook). Sadly it hasn't been to Manchester.

I think you have to accept the cultural aspect of the parts filmed in Peru. As a meat eater I eat duck and rabbit, these are often kept as pets too.
