Hi I have been looking for places for my piggies too stay while I am away. I have found a place called Whittle Valley pet hotel.

This place is in Heywood Lancashire about 5 miles from my house.

I am just wondering if any of you guys have heard about or uses this place?

Yes, I have used them before and Kirsty is lovely and has many animals of her own.

Before I started boarding my piggies there, I arranged an appointment to go and visit to make sure I was happy with the set up etc.

I must admit though that I haven't been for a couple of years as due to my current pigs who have ongoing health problems, they have been going to a very trusted friend of mine who has many piggies of her own xx

I used this place last year while I was on Holiday. I was going to use them again this year. Her set up is a bit messy with cages and hutches everywhere in an old stable block but all the animals were clean and well looked after. Kirsty is really lovely and quite thorough with the forms etc and her prices are very reasonable. My girls came back none the worse for wear last year and I would be happy to use them again. The only thing I would say is the guinea pigs and bunnies don't get out of the cages for a run but I was very happy with the care they got.

On her website she says she has a large area to let them out in the barn. Is this not the case how big are the gates ?

There is an area that they can go into in the barn, 3 of mine were in it on the day I picked them up, the other 2 were in the carrier. I can't say for 100% certainty if they went out during the time they stayed. It looked like with the amount of animals staying that there wouldn't have been time for all of them to have a run. It is something that you could ask if you were going to visit. I would visit first and ask if you are at all concerned.
I do know that my guineas were well looked after and I would be happy to send them again.

Thanks for the help. I will give them a visit and check it out.

just a couple more questions.

how gig were the hutches that they were kept in ? also is the area where they are kept heated ?

I have no idea which hutches my pets stayed in as she hadn't got them quite ready as I dropped them quite early. She left them in their carriers for a short time while the hutches were got ready. She has some hutches and some indoor cages. I have no idea about heating as it was mid August when My girls went so no need for heating. It was cool enough in the building to avoid over heating though.
