I bought this as it was on special and thought it would be ok to mix in with their oxbow adult pellets for some variety. I bought some burgess excel with mint and they have decided that i'm trying to poison them and wont touch them even though they love the oxbow peppermint treats *rolls eyes to the ceiling*. Has anyone tried them one their piggies? Is 0.90% max calcium per 1/8 of a cup too much calcium?

Not tried it, I can't get oxbow. My first thought when I saw your picture was "Why did someone take a perfectly good guinea photo and go overboard with the blur effects and replace its eyes to cartoonify it?" Hehehe

Made you look lol. We get hardly any good hay and pellets brands here so we should have at least one. Actually I have been lucky to get oxbow, alfalfa king and burgess here but the rest are usually crap supermarket brands or for rabbits.

I haven't tried it or heard of it before, but 0.9% calcium is slightly on the higher end compared to other foods. Organic doesn't necessarily mean good for the pigs. How much was it, if you don't mind me asking?

@Flutterby is our most experienced member re. pellets.

The percentage is not too high compared to the olden times but if you are worried, just feed a bit less. After all, pellets are only a food supplement when it comes to diet essentials and at around 5% of the daily food intake not a large part of a regular good diet. ;)

My piggy is currently getting 85g of Oxbow Cavy Cusine Adult Guinea Pig Food Timothy Pellets per day. Is this a proper amount for one pig per day?

They are only getting 1/8 of a cup in the morning to share and 1/8 of a cup in the evening to share as stated on the back of the pellet packet. Is that ok? They will only share a bowl and will not have one each.

It was $25.59aud but I got it for 20% off. Originally it was 31.99aud. Sorry I would have no idea how much that is in pounds. I know oxbow is expensive as over here but it's pretty much the only brand I can guarantee they will eat pellet and hay wise.
