Thanks guys.... It's just that the vet mentioned it today as a possibility to my Pepper's symptoms, we've just got through 3 weeks of Septrin for Cystitis with no effect. The x-ray he had a few months back didnt show stones. However, another x-ray is booked for tomorrow to recheck. This is like a roller coaster :(

I can appreciate how hard it is, especially after so long. What are his specific symptoms?

There is a very stubborn "type" of cystitis known as Interstitial Cystitis (IC), which I believe is managed, not cured.

Started in January with the odd squeak while peeing/pooing, small drop of blood found. He had one course of Septrin/pain relief/ cranberry etc. I thought he responded well to it but as soon as he had finished the 2 week course it started again. An x-ray and 2 more weeks of Septrin and I thought his crying was subsiding. I heard the odd one. Weeks later it flaired up again, again with a little blood found. Now he is on his 3rd week of Septrin, I though it was helping but Tuesday night was horrendous I sat here while the early hours listening to him cry really bad everytime he pee I dosed him up on Nurofen but it didnt help. I thought it was the end for him. But Wednesday he was all perky and I found little spots of blood when I cleaned his cage out. I presume everytime he past some blood it was very painful, no blood since and just a slight cry when peeing. He is eating well and maintaining his weight. Today he weighed in at 1.47kg. I have also been giving him the highest dose of Septrin at 1ml twice daily.

I've limited experience with IC but from what I can gather, it's an issue with inflammation in the bladder, which sounds like it could be Pepper's problem (chronic inflammation would lead to pain on peeing).

When was the last time he had an xray? Stones can form in fairly short spaces of time, so it's perhaps something to check for once again.

Maybe worth having a read of Guinea Lynx threads regarding IC:

He's in at the vets now, they are keeping him in to do the x-ray.

He was last x-rayed end of January.

Thanks for the link Laura - will have a good read and update later once I've heard from the vet too. Appreciate your support and advice.
