baby piggie

I'm taking both my piggies to the vet tomorrow to get their nails done, i have also noticed something on truffles feet.... he has hardened "spurs" on his pads that are growing outward. I done a bit of research but couldnt really find much on it, He get his cage cleaned twice a week and has a layer of sawdust covered with loads of hay/straw, the pads of his feet are fine apart from these bits at the side. i was wondering if anyone here had experienced with this condition?

Spurs are not a big problem normally. They can be trimmed, or just left, depends what they are like. They vet will be able to advice you whats best for your piggy :smitten:

Good Luck :)

Digby has them and I trim them and they are fine just make sure they are kept short as they can curl into the foot OUCH!

Thanks everyone! What a relief! i was getting worried there. The piggies are gonna love the vet tomorrow! hehe :D I'm going to get the vet to show me how to do their claws. :)

2 of my piggies get them, i just trim them down when they grow O0 just be careful when you trim, be careful you dont get their pads on their feet :) i had a nightmare trimming bobs as he is a squirmer

They do no harm so just get the vet to check them out for you O0

well, just back from the vets and the both of them were as good as gold! they got the nails clipped and treacle got his spurs clipped a bit too! :D They both behaved very good too - which is very unusual for them! ::) ;)
