Hi, on the weekend I am hoping to put my large cage with the smaller one, so my piggies have more room and they can go from the one cage straight into the other, if that makes sense. I just wondered if anyone on here had done the same? It's just two normal cages like you get from the pet shops.

thanks.

Are you talking about the plastic based indoor cages?
if you are my friend joined 2 Zoo zones together with a piece of plastic pipeing. He cut the hole out of each one and then siliconed the pipe in place. The piggies seem to love it and often sleep in the pipe

I think she's talking about wooden hutches. If you are, I'm planning to do something similar with a hutch and a run-but I'm still not sure how to do it so I cant really help.

Hi yes I am on about the plastic based indoor cages. Thanks for your reply. I have some piping, but I think it's too wide so i might have to cut some of the metal as well in order to fit it in. I'll have a go on the weekend and see what it turns out like!

have you thought about usuing c&c maybe easier rather than cutting holes in cages?

To be honest I haven't - I have already spent 70 quid on cages and i can't really afford to go buying anything else.

Hi,

I had the same thoughts last winter. My husband suggested we unclipped the the ends of each cage, fold them back and push the cages next to each other. We used cable ties to conect them for a bit of added security, and put a grassy igloo on each side so they could hop from one cage to the other. It worked really well and the pigs loved it :)

OoOoOoh would LOVE to see any piccies of all these cages and how you done it - Very interesting :D

I think that you must of thought that 'i love animals' was being sarcastic by asking to see pics. Sure nothing was meant wrong by it she just wants to see pics too. Like we all do. Were all on here learning about piggies so its helpful to see pics like you suggested so we can crib ideas etc.

Hope you enjoy the forum i have been on here about a month and have learnt so much.

:)

;D ;D This is a friendly forum yeah and its great to see peoples new ideas and what they come up with to copy for your piggys too which is absolutely fine O0

I've done it i have put the two cages together, it took me a few hours, but i did it while the boys were playing in their run upstairs. It looks ok, but Louis the bigger piggie is getting quite on his high horse and keeps chasing Tyson, they were just staring at each other chatting their teeth and I started paniciking thinking i hope they dont have a full on war here! I think I will keep an eye on them for a bit before i turn in...hopefully they will settle soon

Oh I'd love to see pics-I could do with an indoor cage for the winter and all the ones in my local petshop are a bit small

wales1000, I did this with 2 hammy cages, and its worked out fantastically O0

Only bad side is if they fight and have to be seperated, you have to find something to fill the hole, or block the tunnels ;D

my camera is isn't working so i can't take any pics. It looks ok, but Louis is still being a bit funny towards Tyson, if he goes over to other section he starts chasing him, like he's saying this is my patch. they were teeth chattering again this morning, but i have read that you shouldn't split them unless they are really fighting or bleed is shed. They are in their run today, so i might try and sort the other section out a bit better. I didn't need to cut any of the cage in the end, i just split it, took one part of the metal out and left a section open for a gap and have a small ramp going over. Thankfully i can just put it back the way it was without trying to fill in any holes
