Been to vets recently, and my Missy has the start of ringworm (caught very early!) on her ears. She is inoors, always has been along with her sister Lady, who I have had to take out just incase!

Hope those photos worked, anyways, my vet had recommended me this cream to use twice daily as thin layers around the affected areas. There are no steroids in it which is why she has recommended me it. ")

Any advice would be nice, never heard of the stuff. Just bought it and put her first thin layer on, she doesnt seem bothered by it. Very well behaved! :)

I've not used it myself and would recommend putting a diluted solution of Imaverol on instead as putting a cream on can make the area heat up and make things worse. Were they sure it was ringworm? some vets automatically assume ringworm when they see anything remotely fungal whereas there are other types of fungal and this humid weather at the moment is a prime cause of it. My own pigs have had fungal from an overload of Candida in their gut.

That's just my opinion though.

My Ena (r.i.p) had a fungal infection as a baby. As she was so young, my vet also recommended Daktarin. I saw an improvement within days.

Once the scabs / infection has gone, please continue to use the cream for a further two weeks and make sure you wash your hands before and after each application and wear latex gloves as ringworm can spread to humans and other animals.

As Helen has said though, is your vet sure it's ringworm? Ena didn't have ringworm, hers was just a standard fungal infection she had caught from her mum who had it whilst pregnant.

Daktarin cream is great for fungal treatments. It really worked on my little piggies patch on his face and on his brothers ears. My vet said it is good for most fungals and it worked on our the ringworm for us. Also, when my mum caught ringworm from the piggy the doctor prescribed it for her and she said it is lovely and really soothing for the itchy part.

Hope your little one starts feeling better soon.

Thanks guys, did the photos work then? I'm going by what the vet said really :( I wasnt sure myself, I thought maybe Itrafungal and Imaverol together would of been better, but maybe then she wasnt sure either and something oral may not of been wise if it wasnt that? They are very small patches on her ears, but would hate for my little miss to have ringworm! Asked a few fellow guinea owners and all seem Daktarin is a good choice.

I used it on my guinea Ruby only a very small amount rubbed in. It cleared it up but the cream seemed to dry it out so I used a very very small amount of Vaseline which cleared the dryness up and the colour of the ear returned to its normal colour, it wasnt a quick fix it took over a week though. It touch wood hasn't come back.

Thanks, I have some vaseline if needed, will just keep up with the cream and see what happens, if it gets worse will take her back. Thanks for all the advice guys!
