Bricanyl syrup? Beansprout has been to the vets this morning and has been put on this. About 3 weeks ago i took him in to the vets as his breathing became more noticable, he was fine in himself still eating drinking running about as normal just breathing alittle more heavy so took him in to be checked out. The vet had a good listen to his chest and said it sounded clear. She gave me some Bytrail incase he was starting with an infection. Near the end of the course of Bytrail i rang up and spoke to a different vet as he was no different, she said to finish the course of Bytrail give him a few days then bring him back in and have his chest checked again. So off we went to the vets today i saw a different vet this morning and this time when she listened to his chest there was a slight wheezing, she said it was only sight and was a dry wheezing. She said it sounded like bronchitis and gave us the above meds. She said that he may have to be on it long turn. He is on 0.1ml twice aday. Just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with these meds. Thank you

No experience in piggies I'm afraid, just dogs and cats. This medication is a bonchial dilator if i remember rightly, it should help your piggie out.

I hope he feels better soon.

x.

Thank you. Not sure how quick i should see a difference, hope its soon. Dont think he's going to be impressed by having to be syringed twice aday for the rest of his life. grrrr I can see him throwing it back at me :))

It's the same stuff used in some inhalers for humans with asthma. it's a bronchodilator and should be working within a half hour I would think. Effects are pretty instant if it's inhaled so not sure what the time delay is on oral syrup.

If it's not working after a week then definately go back. Even if it needs more doses to get cumulative effect it should be working after a few days.
