Hate Being Handled

Hi all, had our lovely boars for 9 months, thy live inside in a gorgeous purpose built run, and seem happy and healthy. One of them loves being stroked behind the ears and under the chin when in his cage.... The other very rarely allows a bit of head stroking when in the cage, but will often come nose to nose with me and give me a "kiss". However, they both hate being held..... To the point they make alarming sounds... The shyest of the two has to be held with two hands and claw clipping is virtually impossible. I don't know what to do.... I can look after most of their need without holding them, but for claws and cleaning (they're stinky boars and I have bathed them once, but they're due another) I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm failing them, but also concerned I can't give them what they need. I love them to pieces but want to make sure I'm doing right by them. X

Hey there don't worry I don't think your doing anything wrong, some piggies really hate being handled and that's okay,
I would say they just need to get used to being handled more often,
When you get them out, maybe twice a week if you feel comfy with that; make it a very nice time for them, some treats if they will eat them, a quiet room and speak softly to them and give them a nice stroke and then put them back,
I find little and often is really the best way to go, with some treat bribery either while they are out or straight after they get back in their cage :)
 
Nice to know mine aren't unusual. I've been very envious of all the people who are able to actually cuddle their GPs. Mine hate being touched and squeal when I try to stroke them. The nose to nose and 'kiss' is the most I've ever had!
