She's so pretty, but also looks hilariously like Ollie wearing a dress and make-up :)

Here they both are pretending to ignore each other after dinner- notice how Hatty is sat as close to the bars as possible while ignoring him!

It's so hilarious - I just adore the body language they have going on.
It's like 2 teenagers at a high school disco, both waiting for the other one to show an interest, and determined not to be the first to throw their hat into the ring!

She is beautiful. Such coyness :luv:
Yes supposedly she never met another piggy before but she definitely has the instincts! They're both constantly watching each other while pretending not to watch each other, and they are staying about 1ft apart unless I casually position food somewhere they have to get closer- but theoretically they could stay 6ft apart if they wanted to... it is such a Jane Austen novel, I have the Pride and Prejudice and Guinea Pigs book and I got it out yesterday to re-read, all this pair need are some dramatic hats and bonnets!

I do hope so, maybe it's a bit soon after his bereavement for him to commit, or maybe he's just a bit old for it all to come naturally... I think the 3 years of happy marriage when Tallulah shrieked at him then jumped up and down on him every time he sniffed at a hint of another lady pig have left him with a few issues to resolve lol!

I'm sure Ollie will see the light and realise that being single is not much fun. Life is so much more interesting when you have somepig to share it with (even if it does mean you have to give up your favourite snuggle sack and share your veggies with them).

I was thinking that...Tallulah was a hard-to-forget ladypig :D
Maybe Hatty is sitting near the bars like that to maximise pheromone drift. And when she is next in season the cogs will start whirring and the penny will drop for Ollie and then 💘💘💗💥

I've got a strategy, seeing as Ollie is very food focused and also very clever and enjoys performing tasks to get food- I went in with the dinner veg, preparing 2 dinner bowls, Ollie is body-slamming the bars trying to get his dinner...
"Ollie, where's Hatty pig? Go fetch Hatty pig! Hatty pig Hatty pig! Where is she Ollie? I can't put your dinner bowl in til Hatty pig gets her dinner too!"
Resentful pig eye look, "Really hooman? You demean me with these operant training antics, they are more suited to inferior animals like dogs..."
"Ollie! Fetch Hatty pig! There's coriander today (tempting bag rustle) where's Hatty pig?"
Ollie trots off, stands up by Hatty's cage, "Madam I believe the hooman is announcing dinner, may I escort you?"
Hatty popcorns over, gives Ollie's face a lick, and says "Wheeeek! Wheek wheek kind sir, I do so like coriander!"
I think the wheeking was well received, she hasn't said much yet and Ollie does love a lady with a good voice... and the way the ears flutter with the wheeking, he's very much an ear man...
Anyway framing it for Ollie as "fetch the lady and give her a kiss to get some food" seems comfortably within his frame of reference! :)

Ollie certainly is a clever pigwig if you can train him to follow that complicated process! Good job on the ear-wobbling wheeks Hatty! I can't wait to hear the next installment of this romance 😍
Ollie has disabled back legs so a lot of his enrichment and exercise is solving puzzles with food inside, and after 3 years the puzzles have got more and more complicated and he responds very well to vocal encouragement to keep going with a new puzzle until food falls out :)
"Where's Hatty pig?" Isnt too much of a leap for him from "where's the egg box?" Which he has completely mastered, finding then opening up a closed 12-egg box to extract 3 blueberries and 3 peaflakes!
He's awfully clever, none of my other piggies have got beyond dragging food out of an open paper bag, which they view with intense suspicion, but Ollie opens rolled up bags, lifts box flaps, turns things over, pries things open with his nose, scrabbles at things with his paws, and recognises words to tell him where he hasnt found the treats yet :)
So he's well prepared for marriage lol, his late rainbow bridge wifepig was the trickiest puzzle of all, complete manic skinny pig weirdo that she was, but he won her over straight away, and I hope he's ready to take on beautiful Hatty! Who doesn't seem too complicated, which is good, Ollie is comfortably middle aged now and deserves an easy life :)

I think Ollie has suddenly realised what's going on today :)
He's very clever, but is after all a middle aged bloke, so not the most clued up on romance.
But today I went in ready to say "Where's Hatty pig?" and Ollie pre-empted me popcorning up and down next to Hatty "She's here! This is Hatty pig! She's a lady and we were having a chat!" then he raced off in an adorable chubby middle aged disabled legged attempt at a zoomy circuit of the cage, while Hatty did some excited 180 degree popcorn moves and agreed with him, "I'm Hatty pig! And that's Ollie pig! He's my friend!"
And neither of them even noticed the bowl of veg I was carrying at all :)
Might try a bit of side-by-side playpen time tomorrow while I do the mid week cage cleans, I was worried Hatty might be scared of playpen time but she seems very relaxed and doesnt run and hide at all, see what she makes of Ollie's impressive treat box opening skills :)

Every lady sow needs a handsome wobbly legged boar with impressive treat box opening skills.

We are having playpen time today with a C&C divider, I think Hatty is a bit nervous about open spaces and guinea pig appropriate enrichment but she has got as far as walking into an open paper bag to eat a cucumber chunk and a bit of apple.
Ollie on the other hand thinks the playpen divider is just another enrichment puzzle and has removed 2 cable ties and a metal clip already and is now dragging the newspaper from Hatty's side under the bars to get to his "lady in a paper bag" treat lol, going to have to keep an eye on him! :)

She's also now trying to chew through the cable ties to get to Ollie... do I, don't I...?
I dont want to rush things and spoil it but I also don't want to be at the vet with 2 C&C crossed lovers who have eaten metal and cable ties in an effort to consummate their love... good they are so keen though!

Well fate intervened in the form of my sainsbury's delivery arriving which spooked them both for a moment so they forgot about vandalising the playpen divider and ran away, then they were distracted by all the rustly salad bag excitement!
Hatty is getting used to all the downstairs house noises though and has investigated a treat box and also pee-marked the whole cage divider and flicked all her poops over into Ollie's side, which is keeping him entertained :)
They've had a very nice 3 hours playpen time now, I'm glad she's getting a change of scene and enjoying exploring and seeing what Ollie does for playpen fun, the temporary 120cm cage she's in must be a bit boring even if there is a handsome boar next door.
I've popped Ollie's old carrot corrage in her cleaned out cage which should keep her busy for a while, and tomorrow I'll swap their fleecy tunnels over once they've slept in them.
I think Sunday may be the big day though, they are both quite keen! :)
