Teenage Guinea Pig
About a month ago we unexpectedly lost Allie. After a long and tough battle she passed away. We thought she was okay and in the clear.
My poor piggie was sickly and I honestly thought she was depressed because she had just lost her sister. Thank goodness I took her to a vet, who took an xray and showed that Allie belly was FULL of stones. She went into surgery that night and I stayed up until 3 am just waiting for the call saying she was okay. When the call came I cried I was so happy. So the next day we brought her home. She was on antibiotics and doing really well, until I noticed she was having issues breathing so back to the vet we went and we got more antibiotics for a URI which cleared up within a day or two of that emergency vet trip. I remember how mad my boss was that I was missing work over my guinea pig but I would do it again in a heartbeat if it would mean just a little bit longer with you.
I still have no idea what happened. You were giving me kisses earlier that day before my appointment. Seeing you in your cage after you passed away put me in shock. I honestly didnt know what had happened. I thought we were only going to get better and I thought it was only going to be smooth sailing from there on out because you had just finished your antibiotics. I was getting the cage ready downstairs for you to go back with your sister.
Speaking of your sister, Callie misses you which also came as a shock to us all because you two never got along, but she misses you. When I hold her shes not as spunky and instead of headbutting my hand she welcomes the interaction. She also squeaks a lot. I think sometimes she looks for you, and wants to rumble and 'chat' with you.
We all miss you here. Not a day goes by that I dont think about you and all the joy you brought me. I even got a tattoo in remembrance of you, most people dont understand how I can be so upset over "just a guinea pig" but you were way more then that to me. You were my baby,
I hope youre looking after Lilltih and Rusty over the rainbow bridge, make sure theyre doing well and getting all the carrots they could ever want. Youre their newest angel so let them know that we all miss them and hope that theyre doing well. We'll never forget you girls and we love and miss you like crazy. We just wish we had more time with you all.
