excited to see what mollie and benjie think of them. they're on oxbow at the moment but only a small amount. i'll gradually mix the two types and hopefully beable to switch to bunny completely eventually. that's the plan anyway!. will update when they arrive. :)

My one year old Amos loves Bunny. Don't make the same mistake as me. Remember just give each guinea pig 5 pellets a day. It is enough even if you think it doesn't look much. Amos is thriving on it.

Good luck with the changeover. My two sometimes eat them, sometimes they don't.
But don't give up early unlike someone said earlier!

You can break them up easily to make it look more too, they are quite big. Don't be surprised if they turn their noses up at first. I am still trying to transition my 2 new skinnies. Mrs Fuzzy on the other hand would eat the whole bag if she could.

the pellets arrived today. offered mollie and benjie one each and they both ate it straight away. then benjie asked for another! might be a different story once they are in the pellet bowls but so far so good :tu:

has anyone noticed their piggies having to really unstick these pellets from their teeth? like they're a bit too chewy? benjie was having to really unstick it earlier and it's made me nervous

Not that I've noticed no.

he was fine with the first one that i left whole. the second one i broke up. maybe he took too big a mouthful. probably better to let him break off his own size mouthfuls.

they're also used to oxbow aswell which are very small so are having to work harder with the bunny.

does anyone have a picture of their bunny packet please? mine isn't the same as the one on the zooplus website!

it's a very plain bag but feels really posh i think :)) good quality. :tu: just wish they did a smaller bag!
It is indeed! Not cheap is it! When my box of it arrived the delivery man threw it over our gate :( how rude! Luckily nothing was damaged :))
But I still like the burgess.

I agree smaller is better. I wonder what the use by date is on them :hmm:

can't read it! :)) good point though. is it six months once opened the max you should keep pellets? although i know some vets say even less than this once opened. it already takes me months and months to get through the small bag of oxbow and these look like they would last even longer :hmm:

Ah dear me! I don't really want to throw away a perfectly good bag but then it's too risky!
I'm not using much of them because they have burgess too. Burgess I can keep for about four months.

the bag seems good quality for freshness anyway, but i have those plastic cereal containers that i transfer pellets into. and they're in a dark cupboard so freshness should be fine for a while.

i think it's about 4months for the small oxbow bag i get aswell actually. i remember reading that six months is the max time. then i read people saying some vets say 3months, and one even said one month! so who knows!

The Vitamin C in pellets deteriorates after about three months. So pellets older than this won't be so good. Write on the bag the date that you received them, then you will know how old they are. :tu:

good idea. will go add a label now. i don't mind throwing them away after a certain amount of time. you've paid your money anyway by then! and besides, i throw so much fresh food aswell so they can have more variety  :)) although lately o/h has been able to use any of the pigs leftovers for his smoothies! note that he has their leftovers, never the other way around! :)):)):))

How are your little ones doing with the pellets today? :) x

i put a few in their bowls today and benjie chose one before the oxbow, but he really struggled with it again and left it in the end. i know it's good that they have to work their teeth but this seems more chewy to me rather than tough, if you know what i mean. i got scared and took them out! didn't fancy becoming the first known choking episode! but then again, i am super paranoid but i just felt uneasy so didn't like to ignore that feeling. mollie didn't even try and eat another today, but she didn't exactly get chance before i whisked them out again! :))

might stick with the oxbow for the minute and maybe try vitakraft next. :)

Aw yes I understand :)
My two often have one pellet, but sniff away at the second!

Am wondering if the current batch is a different texture, I know this can happen with the Vitakraft. Mine are being picky with them at the moment too when they usually love them. Of course Fuzzy is still eating them :)

I am trying my girls with Bunny today. I just had a bag delivered.:D I think 6 of my 7 have eaten one pellet. There does not seem to be a mad rush for a second one. :td:
It says that they are made from plants that grow naturally in South America where piggies come from - but how many piggies know what plants grow there? :hmm:
