Have I started handling them too soon?

I have had my 2 boys for 3 weeks. They were getting better and tamer after 1 week, they were eating out of my hand and for 2 weeks I have been able to pick them up without too much struggling. However, when I started they were curious and moving around on my lap, now they are just sitting there, still and like they are scared. :(

Have I rushed them too much? :'(

I don't think so. With piggies lots of handling is what they need to get them used to you. The fact you took it step by step is good. Try brides like nice smelling or tasty food treats (dandelions, parsley, carrot tops etc) when they are on your knee. Many piggies are sit still on the knee kinds and I always think it means they are relaxing. Hopefully this is your piggies but if they are indeed nervous I am sure they will grow in confidence and be very cheeky and active soon. Just keep doing what you are going and be patient... it will be worth it. :)

Thanks Barmy, I just get panicky too, keep reading different things, particularly with regards to what I should and shouldn't feed them.

i'd agree with barmy4boars really as long as they have had time to settle in and you take it slowly, the sooner the better. :)

I would take them sitting still as a good sign. Are you sure they are scared? They are probably enjoying being on your lap now and not fussed about looking around and possibly getting away! My piggies all like to sit stll and enjoy being stroked. One of my recent newbies was how you described at first, kept looking around and trying to actually climb off my lap, but now he sits still and enjoys the attention :)
