Some of this may sound silly to more experienced owners but tbh I'd just like to check that my piggies like me!
They are happy to climb all over me and snuggle behind my neck and accept kisses, one will also climb onto my hand and up my arm if I extend it to him. They chit chat to each other constantly and wheek too. They will eat both from their bowl and from hand feeding....but try to hide when we open the cage but then allow us to lift them...dies this all sound like good bonding or am I missing anything obvious

Yes, I’d say they trust you.
If they appear comfortable to let you do things such as offer food from your hand, then that is a sign of trust.
Often, new piggies who sit perfectly still are the most scared - their stillness often mistaken for acceptance of cuddles etc when in fact the opposite is usually the case, they are simply too terrified to move

To add, It’s normal for them to be nervous when you open their cage.
That is their safe space and most will not like/never like being picked up by hand as it’s cut too close to their prey instinct. It’s best to herd them into a carrier to pick them up if you notice they are panicking being picked up by hand

Ohh that's a good idea, thankyou, it's the only time they seem nervous, other than that they appear very sociable

Tour piggies trust you fully but some actions tend to trigger their prey animal instincts more than others. It is just an automatic reaction that is wired in deeply.

You may find this guide link here very interesting to learn about side that many owners are not aware of: Understanding Prey Animal Instincts, Guinea Pig Whispering and Cuddling Tips

I found that Percy and Pepper were nicer to me in the beginning. Lol. They would sit with me but once I had had them for a couple of months or so they became more confident to tell me they didn’t want to be held or cuddled.

As you are now officially a piggy slave, The One and Only Thea (Shop Steward) would like you to know that any thing that you do that your piggies find is annoying in any way she will write to the GPU (Guinea Pig Union) on their behalf. She has written about mistreatment from with holding veg to being left in danger by being locked out of the cage in the Living Room. You have been warned!
