I never have been bitten by my piggies, but today I got bitten by one at work, she must have smelt the veg on my hand as I'd just been cutting it up! She really sank her teeth in and it has been bleeding since 4pm. It flipping hurts! I don't blame the piggy at all...she just thought my finger was something yummy I guess!
Just wondering if anyone else has ever been bitten?

The late, great Benjamin got me once when I went to get hold of him when he was having a scuffle with Minty...Dave got me once when he was scuffling with Benjamin...Polo went for me today in the car...it's all go! My serial biter is Minty though...he's always done it as he hates being carried!

Well Moxie has bitten me just playfully or cos my hands smelt like veg, and he has broken the skin, but he doesn't mean it! He's just a nibbly piggy. :))

But when I first introduced Meeko to Cenci and Moxie, Cenci lunged at him (out of fear) and I put my hand out and Cenci bit into my finger really hard. I automatically shook my hand and sent poor Cenci flying across the run. Then I picked up Meeko and stood up (I was in the run) and Cenci bit my foot! (I was wearing pumps and no socks.) And both of them were bleeding for ages! It hurt a lot. My dad was worried and asking if I needed to go to the doctor, but my tetanus shots are up to date and all. :) I really didn't worry about it, but I was bitten badly once by a cat and in hospital for a week, so that's why my dad was worried.

And when I reintroduced Sukie and Lola, they were chasing each other around, and scared, so I went to catch Lola to take her out for a while cos they were so scared, and Lola bit me. It wasn't very deep compared to Cenci's bite, but it did bleed for a little while.

And they say guinea pigs aren't meant to bite. :)) I don't blame them though, cos they were scared both times they properly bit me. The moral of the story, is to wear gloves and have a tea towel ready when introducing pigs!

I've bee bit twice, once I can honestly say I think they did it on purpose, it was done so slyly, next thing I know theres blood running down my finger!

Then breaking up a piggy fight but that wasn't bad, think the piggy realised it was my hand :))!

NO.... ive bathed the most scared guineas that beleive me made my toes curl i honestly though they would have my hand off but no they never bit me...

now ive said that watch one have me:...:)):))

I have a piggy that just bites to test if it's edible lol If it looks like food then it needs to be tested apparently. He also bites if something he doesn't like is happening, like having a hair cut because he is long haired he needs to have a trim occasionally. I have to watch my hands around him because it hurts when he gets yah. None of my other piggies bite though, just him the special boy that he is.

I was bitten by little gold quite badly, he was hanging off the bit of skin between my thumb and my forefinger! It was sooooo painful! But it was my own fault, I got in the middle of a fight! I think he knew he had hurt me, he went unusually quiet immediately afterward and then I picked him up and he was really cuddly. Bless him. My hand bled for ages afterwards though! Lol

I have! I was attempting to juggle putting piggies out for their morning run and munching on my marmalade toast - Artie quite likes marmalade fingers and bit ever so hard and that was about three weeks ago i still have a tiny scar! :(

I rescued 3 piggys from breeding and showing last week. When I went to collect them one bit my daughter but she had been in a box for 4 hours, It was the size of half a shoe box!! not surprising she bit her! poor piggy shes got lots of friend piggys and a big garden to run around in now and I love them all to bits :) Ive never been biten by my others only licked lol :)

My brothers pig: Rooney, bit him because he thought his finger was a veggie, too :))

Arnold bites me on a regular basis. I've gotten quite used to it. He...Also enjoys plucking hairs out of my arm...Now that HURTS!
He always waits until I'm not paying attention and he'll pluck a few right out! :o
It worries me a little. If he had gone to someone as a childrens pet...I hate to think where he'd be now. I'm not surprised he's a bit of an angry pig, though, when I found him he was in a cage with two huge rabbits that were nipping at him.
I'd be pretty angry about that, too.

yep. bites hurt. i have a snappy pig who will turn and snap if shes being petted, she'll go for me if i put my hand in the cage, and she bites my arms if I'm holding her! my mum and dad have been bitten by her and some of my friends.
ive learnt to never handle her without a jumper on and sleeves pulled right down. but I'm getting used to knowing when shes going to bite now after 2 years!
shes quite a character but has such an attitude problem!

i receive nips, which sometimes are very hard, if my guineas can not find their favourite veg in the dish ! and once i was bitten when i separated my two boars after they had been fighting pow-pow- but they are happy and haaven't bitten me since.

Nipped or bitten? I class the two different. A nip can be sharp and repetetive, but never breaks the skin. A bite breaks the skin.

I'm regularly nipped, some hate being handled even after years being here. I've been properly bitten a few times as well.

Once was when a pig experiencing extreme fear - Tuppy got herself wedged in a combination hay rack and gravity feeder. She jumped into the hay rack side of it, tried to tunnel her way down as soon she realised she was stuck. Wedged herself in *tight*, screamed louder than I have ever heard a pig scream. While we were cutting her out of it she bit me, I didn't notice at all until I saw blood. I checked her all over before I realised it was me, she'd bitten my thumb out of sheer terror.

I've been caught by fighting sows a few times now, latest was in July when Saffron kicked up a fuss over the group photo shoot, I am glad she caught me though and not another pig!

I have to assume all responsibility for two occasions though - I was checking each pigs back teeth (sans buccal pad separators i.e. finger in the back of the mouth), my hold on the front teeth faltered and both times the pigs molars started closing on my finger. Those ones hurt. A lot. :))

I've only been bitten once - and that was by Blossom the first time I tried to cut her nails. I must have done something to hurt her, or she really didn't like it.........it really hurt too! She bit right in and it bled for ages. She's never done it again tho, and neither have my other ones.

Lucky he makes up for it by being so stunning. He is in my top 5 for pignapping! :))

Aw, thank you. You made him blush :))

I bet! That sounds pretty painful.

I have been bitten badly by my boys whilst seperating them when they were fighting. I still have the scars on my hand and on my thigh. Mimsi bit straight through my denims! The bites were aimed at each other not at me but boy did they hurt.

Spikey bit me once. She was trying to bite Cornelius Fudge at the time but I put my hand in the way. She looked as shocked as I felt and she instantly clamed down. It bled a lot and was quite painful.

I too have been bitten, like many for doing 'naughtgy' things to piggies:

-my first ever guinea bit me as I was checking her back teeth (with my finger), when I removed the offending article from her mouth (namely my finger) she bit me as hard as she could... I bled for a bit but NEVER checked her teeth again.rolleyes
-my late Bertie was badly impacted at times, so he had to be, erm... helped but he was quite shy so didn't like having his privates on show, let alone prodded and poked! so he bit my leg in protest... I didn't bleed but I bruised quite badly...:(
-the worst was my late darling Rene, as I was picking him and Bertie out of the cage for a run in the living room (I'd had him about 2-3 weeks), he plunged his teeth into my finger! I remember feeling all the various layers of skin/flesh break under the assault... I had to let go of my grip of the attacker who fell to the (plush carpetted) floor and winced (screamed, really) in discomfort (agony)... He never did it again, in fact he turned out to be a great docile, cuddly lappig... Dunno what had got into him that day...mallethead

We had Alexis here who bit me so badly she drew blood twice and it was very painful too. I have been nibbled and bitten quite a few times but that was the worst xx

Caitlin (my daughter) was bitten by Ophelia (her sow) on the chest it left a permanent scar, Caitlin says she doesnt mind because it's a permanent reminder of her little girl.

Not really, We have one that will bite which is Dec.

Barney bites too if you touch his bum, goes crazy when you wash his grease gland!

It is a shck when they bite though! lol ?/

Smudge my new piggy nips my hand gently as he runs past sometimes the little tinker but I remember years ago having a piggy called Merlin, I asked my husband to give him a grape and as he offered it to him Merlin missed and bit through his finger in his attempt to snatch it. I felt really bad. :( It was a nasty cut. :(
