When I got Bette, she was my first ever lap pig and she doted on human attention that was her thing, she would stick her head up waiting for chin scratches or make herself comfortable and settle down for a nap I couldn't believe a pig could ever be so tame. Unfortunately Bette only lived with me for 6 months before I had to make the decision to put her to sleep. Due to her hatred of other pigs especially Milo I decided to take Milo to Glynneath Guinea pig rescue where he got to pick a new friend.

Bette would put most lap pigs to shame :)).

Bette lived for a month after Esme arrived. When I first got Esme she spent all her time hiding of course she was only a baby. However from about 4 months she really blossomed into another Bette she is a very similar in nature except for the old woman personality. I do wonder if Bette trained her before she passed. I can just imagine it now young lady you have big boots to fill! :))

Esme established her place as a lap pig at a very young age.

I feel very privileged to have the trust of such little animals, I can spend hours just watching them as they roam about not a care in the world.
 
What an adorable young piggy she has grown into, I'm a very proud aunty.

Esme has certainly got bags of attitude, and always had them!
 
What a lovely story, those little piggies had and have complete trust in you and that to me is lovely to see, when an animal is so happy with life they are very relaxed in your company. I have had other guineas myself that I think have been with us before.:)
 
I had Pumpkin a big bossy madam, the dominant one of the trio, very brave. My youngest girl Sherbert was the opposite, small, skittish, hyperactive and hated being picked up. When Pumpkin passed away Sherbert seemed to almost become Pumpkin, she's now the one in charge she's become a lot braver, doesnt mind being picked up, stopped being quite as hyper active, she's the first one to come see me when I come over to the cage. The way she now acts with my new baby girl Rio is identical to the way Pumpkin acted with Sherbs. It's so bizzare seeing Sherbert act more like Pumpkin than like herself, it's like Pumpkin lives on in Sherbert.

Your pigs are gorgeous by the way. x)

Sharon, most days I'm amazed at how trusting they are. I often see people ask how you tame guinea pig's and truth to be told I don't know. All my pigs are very tame and trust me completely but I didn't do anything special with any of them I just look after them and give them attention.

I find it upsetting that some people will never understand just how rewarding it is to have the trust of animal.
 
My first girl Sherbet (pew) was very friendly, she would tuck herself under the chin and give wonderful piggy kisses and licks. She sadly passed away with bladder cancer leaving her sister (Lily) alone. We adopted Maisie and Paprika to keep Lily company. Maisie is a pink eyed lilac and white aby x. When we hold her she will tuck herself as far under the chin as possible and give piggy kisses and licks. She is the only on of the 5 that does this.
 
Aww, Bette sounds like she was such a lovely pig and Esme definitely seems to be walking in her shoes! There's nothing better than a cuddly pig! drool

Bette was certainly one in a million, it's always sad when they go. I'll never forget the day I put her to sleep. I never thought I could ever make that decision but I did despite the crying in the middle of the vet surgery and apparently we're less emotional when we become adults! :))
 
Oh how very cute and snuggly she looks!

I've always wondered if past piggies stay around and teach newer piggies not to be scared. :^-
 
Aww they sound like such loving and special pigs. How wonderful to have a piggy who likes your company. :)

Bette was certainly one in a million and has left her mark - she will never be forgotten.

Esme is a beautiful piggy - she obviously feels very safe and secure with you and thats lovely to see :)

Its amazing how they all have their own pigsonalities and can all be so different yet have a lot in common :))

Awwwww nothing is more wonderful than when a pig trusts you like that :) When my Garry died I didn't think I would ever find a pig as friendly and as chilled as him, but then I found Mdluli, who is just as, if not more freindly :)

I love lap piggie's, Esme certainly appears to have that skill to a tee! I love the fact that some pigs trust us that much they will totally let their guard down and snooze on us. You have posted some really beautiful pigtures of her. x) x)

Putt was our lap pig, I still miss her lying down on my legs at night. Cookie and Treacle don't settle, there is far too much mischief available to be interested in cuddles for long. Megan, however will settle on my lap and loves to put her head in the crook of my elbow to use it as a pillow, she's such a trusting little piggie - she's a real Daddie's girl :)) :))
