Like all reputable rescues Hutches at Alyth in Perthshire is bursting at the seams, with Piggies, Bunnies and the odd hamster looking for their forever homes. In the last week alone Joanne has “taken into” her rescue 11 bunnies, 13 piggies and 1 hamster. Most of which are in poor condition requiring vet treatment and in the case of the bunnies various vaccinations, neutering/spaying.

After several conversations with Joanne, she has agreed to allow us to foster 6 piggies until late January 2014. Over the last week we have been busy completely clearing our spare room and making space for 6 separate cages including a dedicated run on the floor. So on Saturday 7th we are collecting our valuable guests to spend time with us over the festive period.

Sounds easy – but it's not as the organisation that's gone into this is spectacular, mostly from Joanne as she has arranged cages, bedding, bowls, bottles and any additional vet treatment whilst in our care, we will supply hay, nuggets veggies only because we insisted.

We have said this before, it makes us feel very humble when we see the dedication and love that all reputable rescues do to ensure the welfare of the piggies in their care.:hug:

Well done to all of you involved in this rescue! Sounds like they certainly have their hands full! So glad that there's people out there that go to such lengths to rescue animals in need, especially small furries which are sometimes overlooked. Well done again and enjoy your Xmas guests :tu: x

You are so kind to help foster these poor piggies. I cannot help feel you will 'foster' them for several years.......

Well done on you! Sadly, pre-Christmas is the worst time of the year for rescues, apart from Easter... :(

Please keep updating us how your fosters are getting on!

:eek:Wow, 6 piggies, that's ace. Imagine the feeding time noise!

Good luck today for operation "per dawn Xmas raid". Incidentally, is this not an announcement of pig-nabbing:inn:

Thought we'd give you an update on our festive visitors - we know we said that we were possibly fostering 6 piggies but we have come home with 7. Three pairs of boars and a single boar. Their names are Sparkle and Bubbles, Mango and Morocco, Royal and Regal and finally Sooty. We have set up the four cages and allowing them all time to settle in but as Mango and Morocco went straight for the nom noms when they were put in their cage we couldnt resist a quick pigture. When you see the pigtures you will understand why Mango is so named.

This is cage number 1 of 4

Colourful Mango

Handsome Morocco
