So I'm slow.... do you all have a seperate area for the hay then thats not lined with fleece but something else?
My washing machine may have been trying to hint at this with the amount a piggy wastle collecting around the door seal......lovely.

That is why I do not use fleece! Lots of folks use a litter tray filled with hay with a newspaper area around it to reduce it getting onto the fleece.

I built an extra level just small for a kitchen, it has sawdust hay rack food and plastic pigloo that keeps the mess off the fleece.

I have tried to put our hay in a hayrack over a litter tray (which also has cheaper hay in it) but they seem to enjoy sitting in it, weeing in it and generally spreading it around rolleyes

I try to shake and sweep as much as possible off before cucking it in the washer but there always seems to be som which sneaks in {:|

yes I know I brush it off outside over the bin and get it in my mouth and all over my clothes, when the snow melted it was everywhere around the bin.
I must try to keep my mouth closed when there is a slight wind.
I will have a go at the old tray idea then as I can't live like this lol

I too have a hayloft where the hay is kept and i find that hay does stay there! I do make sure that the fleece is swept with a hard brush before putting it in the washing machine and i use a washing bag to put my fleece in. I used a old duvet cover and put the fleece and inco pads inside it and then tie the top, it works really well and the washing machine stays clean as the bag catches any bits i missed. Aslong as you dont over stuff the bag with too much fleece the inco pads and fleece wash well. :)

I never thought of using an old duvet or pillowcase. I'd been looking out for a laundry bag but they all have holes in mallethead

I use cat litter trays, lined with a puppy pad and then put their hay in there. Keeps the majority of hay off the fleece and also the pigs do their business in there so I just change that evrey day so fleece only needs chaging once a week.(I have an old handheld hoover for picking up poos every day!)

Hi,

I use corner large littertrays, I use carefresh or woodshavings in the tray and then I hook a hayrack to the tray and fill it with hay most of the hay stays in the littertray:))
