Just had a fantastic bale of meadow hay delivered from my local farm.
I am thrilled because it’s much larger and much cheaper than the bags of hay I can buy from the local pet shop (and with the pigs and buns I was going through bags of hay every ten days or so)
The piggies are thrilled because as I was moving it into the Guinea pig shed, a chunk fell off the end and landed in their run...it apparently tastes nicer than the stuff I was buying before! It however, has made a proper mess all over the fresh fleece and we all know how much hay loves fleece!
(A before pic of the run before the great hay drop incident and an after pic with Dexter pig in the bottom corner, proving that it’s good stuff!)

Well the piggy taste test is the important thing... hopefully the hay savings will pay for a new washing machine if yours chokes on the hay? We've had fleece in the cage for 2 weeks now and the piggies love it but the washing machine sounds quite unwell!

The horse bag was worse because it was a big saturated lump that clonked around and wouldnt spin... I had to seperate everything for an extra spin cycle and the horse bag velcro ripped all the fluffy off the fleece but didnt really trap any hay... we have a pre-wash horse brush for the fleece then wash the fleece and puppy pad liner seperate now with a little bit of the safe disinfectant my old mum uses on her incontinence products! I bought her some Vetfleece too for on the sofa because it looks more dignified than the white disposable stuff the care workers give her :)

Well this is certainly a "happy little accident" as Dexter can attest. I'll also add to the chorus saying get a horse wear/pet wear wash bag or two so that hay and hair don't end up clogging your washer. I actually use two because mine is a top loading washer where I need to balance the load.

My horse wear wash bag has a zip on it. And it never clunks around in the washer. I can’t remember where I bought it though. It’s a xl one though.
