Hello all!

I’m just asking about your experiences with Hay Box and some advice please!

I’ve heard Timothy is better in terms of nutrition, so I was looking at getting a box (2.5kg for my boys, if we like it this month we’ll subscribe!). I’m just wondering which one to get. One of my boys is a skinny and this month we’ve had some hay poke incidents - poor little guy managed both eyes and permanent damage due to scarring to one eye as one poke was really nasty. I’m just trying to prevent anymore accidents!

I saw that they offer a “soft cut” Timothy hay - I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this, or hay box in general and could please advise further?

Thank you! :)

We use Hay Box and are currently on their soft cut Timothy for the pigs' "dessert" hay, but we've also had their mixed Timothy. Both have gone down well but mine seem to prefer the soft - although I know other members on here haven't had much luck with it. I've never been disappointed by a box.

We started by getting a trial pack, which I recommend :)

Hello I had a hay box delivery this morning. I only ordered it Sunday. Always a very good service.

My boys like the soft cut so they have unlimited amounts of that one. Then a put a handful of the stalkier second cut Timothy hay in at night for them to munch on.

It’s very good hay. I don’t buy Hay Box’s meadow hay though. I get a cheaper meadow hay from my local horse supply shop. Because I put that in their hides so they mainly sleep on it.

I use haybox. Absolutely love it.

I buy 10kg of meadow hay and 10kg of the soft timothy hay a month

The soft timothy has certainly gone down really well with my two piggies and three rabbits. They did nibble at the stalky timothy but the soft is definitely the favourite!

I use HayBox and buy both 1st cut and meadow hay.
Mine love both.
The coarser hay seems more popular to eat but the meadow hay makes a lovely nest.

We alternate with different meadow hays, but our boys absouloute favourite is the soft cut timothy, from HayBox.
They are not keen on the stalkier timothy hay, so I haven't brought any for a while.

I used to buy the blend from haybox but changed to soft cut which the piggies seem to enjoy more. Always delivered within 2 days too.

Mine love all Haybox hays, they usually get the meadow to nest in and the stalky timothy to eat after dinner, but we also get the soft timothy for confined spaces like filling a haycube or cardboard box house, and our skinny pig prefers the timothy softcut. We get 10kg meadow, 10kg coarser timothy, and 5kg soft timothy, every 3 weeks!
For 9 spoilt piggies, but they prefer extra hay to pellets, they get very few pellets but mountains of hay :)

2kg bags tend to last a long time with mine, so I’m going to see how long one box lasts and then set up a subscription :) thank you!

Wow! I got my haybox order today (I waited until payday!) and I’m so impressed! The box smells amazing, the hay is so green and fresh. I had it delivered to work alongside a brand new C&C for my boys today (just an upgraded size from their old one, it was getting a bit….old!) my manager took one look and is currently ordering some for our small animals at work for feeding hay. We have a bunch of rabbits and Guinea pigs at work too so it’ll be nice to swap them onto a better brand. Gus and Oreo are currently chomping away after a bunch of popcorning!
