Hay cookies

How often do you feed your piggies hay cookies? I seem to give them another after they’ve gone through one - just wondering if there’s any downside to doing this. Thanks :)
 
They are just hay so from a dietary point of view there is nothing in it to worry about. However as they are only short and small pieces of hay, I don’t think they don’t work as well on the teeth as long strands of hay do. For that reason I give them fairly infrequently - I break one in half and give it to them once a week maybe for some variety but then they will go months and not be given any!

We go through hay cookies in our house really fast. My kids think our piggies need them everyday. I normally wait a month when we run out before buying more. I mostly try to use them to help my 2 year old feed the piggies. He is autistic and hates touching things that appear to be food so it's a therapy thing for him.

I’m glad he finds the hay cookies manageable! Must be a lovely activity for him and the piggies :) x
 
I feed them when I remember them...which isn’t often because I rarely look in the box they’re stored in. Same goes for pea flakes...🤷🏾‍♀️
 
They LOVE PEA FLAKES! I give my two boys hay cakes every evening when hey have floor time in my bathroom. Lol. Less mess to clean up. 😊

I could have sent you some from my stash. I bought it maybe 2 years ago and it’s still almost full. Coco isn’t so sure about pea flakes. I think she’s more of a curious character as she didn’t accept rose petals the first few times I gave them some.

My 3 do that too. I put the hay cookie in the middle of the run and by the end of the day it's gone walkabout!🤣
