Medicane isn't really helping with my piggie's URI. Wondering if it might me hay fever? He sneezes, coughs, nose whistles (at least I think that is where it is coming from), wheezes, he used to have nose crust, and off to the vet tomorrow. He acts and eats completely normal. So, could this be hay fever, how do I know for sure it is hay fever, and how to help my little one if he does have hay fever.

We've been going through a similar situation with our Doris, in fact it hasn't been fully resolved after almost a year of treatment and tests.. mallethead

I guess it would be more distressing if Doris wasn't a perfectly happy and active piggy.

Anyway, a while back, when we thought it might be hayfever, we:

- switched to dust free hay (and we now still order it, online from the dust free hay company as it's good quality)
- made sure we used paper based bedding
- switched from sawdust-based cage lining to paper-based (like the paper based cat litter) and then finally to fleece

Our flat has a good temperature and humidity so we didn't think there were any issues there. We keep our piggies indoors in our living room.

None of it made any difference, so we thought it was fair to draw the conclusion that it wasn't hay fever..! @)

Would be interested to know what your vet says...
