My guinea pig had some hay in his bottom. I removed it and noticed there was some poop as well.

Could the stuck hay have prevented him from being able to clean his bottom? It's not bad like the impaction photos I've seen. And he's only a year and a half.

If it's not gone by morning should I see a vet? They told me if I called first thing in the morning they'd have an appointment.

Just saw a clump of poo in the cage, so assuming he got it out but I have a vet appointment for morning.

Poor piggy 🙁 My pigs get woodshavings in their boar pouch but somehow everything gets past and comes out. When I remove the woodshavings with a Q Tip, there's no poop to be seen. I think fresh poo is quite well lubricated and gets through tight spaces quite well. But there's no harm having a vet check in case the hay has scratched him. You have very good instincts about your piggies' health. Good luck with the vet check ❤️

Loki regularly gets bits of hay stuck around and in his bum, I just pull them out- along with any gunk. 🤢. Poor boy gets regular checks due to his habit of acquiring sperm rods.

He had a vet check regarding impaction when he first moved in with us & had quite a hard plug of impaction. The conclusion was that he had been potentially stressed with the home move & over zealous with scent marking which had resulted in the impaction.

Loki hasn’t had any impaction incidents since.

I hope your boys ok.
