:(I had to take Jeeves to vets the other day as I noticed his eye had gone a funny colour, a bluey colour. The vet said that it looked as if it had got a bit ulcerated so she put something in it to freeze it and then lifted his lid right up and horror, she found a piece of hay!. It was only a very fine piece with feathery bits on the end but it had somehow got into his eye, bless him he was ever so good as it must have hurt him. The vet said it would have happened very quickly as I said I hadn't noticed it the evening before when I put them to bed. He is nearly back to normal now and non the worse for it, thank goodness. I will be checking all the time now for hay in any of their eyes. Just wanted to warn others, I know straw scratches or can stab their eyes but hadn't thought about hay.

Same happened to Cozzie a few weeks ago. It looked like a cataract that had come on overnight. Vet found a sharp thorny thing. It cleared up within a couple of days with some Fucithalmic drops.

Hope your little guy is OK.

glad your piggy is ok, shame he had to have his eye frozen though, what a poor little thing xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

glad he is feeling better. I am always picking bits of dust or hay from around my piggies eyes but never in them! I guess I am just a worrying mum though!

Glad Jeeves got sorted. :)
The bluey, cloudy film on the eye is the natural healing process. Looks like a cataract, but it comes on very quickly if caused by an injury, and clears up within a week or so depending on the severity of it.
