Hi guys!
So about 6 months ago Midnight started being really particular about his hay. I bought this HUUUUGE bag of the brand I normally get and it just wasn't the best quality. That's when he started being picky. The amount he ate slowly dwindled until he was only eating it if I picked out every single brown piece. Being that I did not want to do this, I bought a new bag of Oxbow hay because o figured it would be fresh and not have many brown pieces, which was true. However, it does have quite a few of the flowery tops, which are Midnight's favorite, and now he is only eating those and just waits for me to put more in rather than eating the other part of the hay. Had anybody else experienced this with their pigs? Is he getting enough hay?
Side note, I feed him Oxbow pellets.

My pigs are getting very fussy with hay and not eating what they used to.Ive ordered some from zooplus so gonna see if they'll eat that. One has marigolds in and they like that one but haven't had it for a while and they've never had the other one so fingers crossed they eat it.

Well at least mine isn't the only one. Maybe I'll try one with some extra stuff in it as well.

We try and have a rotation of hay.

We get a good meadow hay from the local pet supply store which comes from a local farm. We sometimes use dust free hay soft hay too. Then rotate in Oxbow Orchard grass and \Timothy hay alongside it. Piggies can be picky with hay it is frustrating and trial and error

All 4 of my sows only eat the seed heads and soft strands from both the alfalfa king timothy hay and the oxbow western timothy hay... I must throw away at least 75% of the hay as it just lays there once all the good bits are gone. The only hay they eat most of is 2015 timothy hay from timothyhay.co.uk .. Its lovely and green but it is soft so not ideal as a staple hay. They love the chamomile hay too but i tend only to feed that if theres any upset tummys as its soothing on the digestive tract x

I have 8 boys and they will only eat the ING hay, I didn't realise that piggys could be so fussy I thought they had the name 'pig' because they would eat everything and anything..... Not the case here :D I also buy the meadow hay from hay and straw and they will eat that one too, both are sweet smelling and rather green I would highly recommend it!
