dont get me wrong, i loooove my boys to death, but I'm getting a little frustrated with the hay! i feel like no matter how many times i sweep the floor (hay does a number on the sweeper btw) five minutes later it's everywhere again. to give you a little perspective: for the next few weeks the pigs are gonna be on the floor. i have a pen set up for them made out of bars from commercial cages. there is newspaper down, and towels on top. when we move in a few weeks we'll come home to a c&c cage, which I'm hoping will be easier to maintain. in the meantime, any suggestions? i feel like I'm fighting a losing battle! :{

How bout you have more newspaper on the outside to catch the stray hay and then you can just wrap that up and toss out :)
I know a few others that extend the correx etc.. out from under their cages so cleaning is easier.

Could you use fleece instead? I used to use hay, but I also found it was really messy so I switched to fleece. With the fleece, I just take outside everyday and shake all the poos out, and wash it every 4 days.

that could work, except piglet has this infuriating habbit of eating any exposed newspaper lol. ive heard its not bad for them, but i feel like he would eat it in excess if he could! also the pen is pretty much in the middle of the room (for the moment we live in a studio apt that consists of two rooms and a bathroom-kitchen out in the hallway...did i mention I'm in college? thats why its such weird set up lol) so stepping on extra newspaper might make more of a mess! it's making me bananas...i cant wait till we move!

I have a hay bed below my hay rack for my Guineapigs whom's on Fleeces, it works better as less hays would be dragged out, and I don't have to shake as much to get them all out.

I know that feeling. Hay gets everywhere, no matter what. I've just resigned myself to the fact that there is going to be hay all through out the house.
