Hello,

I love my fleece liners for my guinea, but I wonder, how do you get hay off it? It gets all the little bits stuck to it. I have a special bag to stop it getting in the washing machine but some still sticks after the wash.

Thanks

I haven’t found a way of getting all the hay off.
Even vacuuming the fleece doesn’t fully work.
I work on the basis that if the fleeces are clean that’s fine
Yeh I've tried hoovering too. Thought about using a lint roller, but is that fighting a losing battle 😂

Similar here, just shake outside, pop it in a bag for the washing machine, another shake while damp before drying & just accept any hay that’s left on.

We have a rubber bristle brush too, but honestly the shaking seems to be as effective. I got ours at the supermarket.

Yes, there lots of silicone brushes available. The piggies will quickly eat the bristles down to nothing so be careful not to leave a brush lying in the cage or anywhere they can reach them. The same goes for gloves and plastic bags, they eat them like candy but they are dangerous 🙁❤️

I must confess that even though I try to accept the hay left on them, occasionally I find myself going through a pile of fleece with my tweezers in hand!
I use an old fashioned carpet beater as well as a silicone bristle brush.

I use this brush and dustpan from Home Bargains. It does its job. I shake the fleece outside as well. Although I mainly use the big fleece liners as under layer in the cage and the bobble mats as the main bedding coz they're easier to clean and I can replace the part where the piggies wee more everyday. The bobble mats are softer in my opiniom too.

There was a Vileda silicone one a member was saying was fantastic the other week off Amazon I'll try to find the link 🤔

Yeah I use the fleece liner and then a bath mat and a pee pad on top, but there was so much hay in the cage all over some of the fleece liner, it's gone everywhere

I use kitchen gloves (the ones you use to wash dishes with rubbery palms). I bring all the hay and debris into a pile and throw it out in a bin and then continue to brush the debris/dust into a pile with my hand until I'm left with nearly nothing. I finish with a small brush to collect the dust and finer debris. The gloves are good as well to remove hair from fleece and other beddings. I use fleece rather than bath mats and my technique might work better on fleece.
As for the kitchen gloves, some are more rubbery than others. I've tried a few over the years and the more rubbery the better.
