Hay Or Straw?

Hey!

Okay so I've been feeding this to the piggies and rabbit over the past couple of days - it wasn't as discoloured as this before hand; it was green before!

Was about to feed Smudge when I saw it in this certain light - I'm 90% sure this is hay; but also want to trust my gut that it might be straw or just funny hay! So just checking with you guys! I might pick up another bag just in case my gut is correct! All the animals have been eating this absolutely fine either way; so probably just being paranoid :P

it looks green in places so i would say hay.... i thought straw was more yellowy .. but i am having one of those days too !
 
its hay x :nod: but i never use straw unless I'm out of hay and i need to put some more in the hutch:xd:xx straw is abit to sharp on the piggies skin and fur x and mine never make them selfs a nice bed in it. ive only had my piggies for about 7 mounths now and i have only used it onced so if i was you i wouldnt use straw unless really need and hay is more important to piggies than strawxx hay gets all the food down and it makes there teeth lest sharpxx :D sorry for bad spelling having one of those days to xD xx:P
 
xD same xx I'm trying to do this and think of ways to make my piggies even more happyxx there outdide and i dont spend mutch time with them becuase its raining xx
 
That's my problem at the moment! Scrambling to clean them while ducking in and out of the rain x3

Trying to tame a rabbit and just scrambling around :P
 
Definitely hay, Ihave found that a lot of hay I buy at the moment has the thicker stalkier bits in it. Must be to do with the harvest at this time of year.

haha your pets outside? thats the worst having them out side in the rain:flag:and when they make loads of mess and they nedd badly clean and its no stop of rain its annoying:hmm:
 
:D Yup, that looks like hay to me. Green hay can fade in strong light. Barley straw is fine for piggies to eat, but not wheat straw. "Dust Free Hay" sell barley straw. I once bought box of hay from them that looked just like Claire W's picture! I thought they must have sent me the wrong box!
