Junior Guinea Pig
I know the general advice is always to take them to the vets when in doubt but it really stresses this certain pig out and id rather avoid it if I can..
Id just refilled the hay and went away for an hour or so and come back to see that one of the girls had a little bit of hay in the corner of her eye. She let me take it out with no bother but her eye is slightly cloudy and the white is blood shot. I held her and drizzled warm water over it and I checked a bit later and it looks less irritated.
Do you think she will need to go to the vets? It doesnt look scratched or infected or punchered.
I will see how it is tomorrow and possibly take her to the vets..
I feel helpless really, I have their hay in a hay rack above the level of the floor to prevent hay poke and now its happened for the first time in two years of having these pigs
. I'm not sure what else I can do to prevent it happening again. .
