I don't know if it is better or worse to be honest.
I'm taking her to the vets very soon.
:/ I'm sure the vet will know what to do. It's foggy around here so when we were driving to the vets we couldn't see very well, so if you'd went yesterday you'd have to be driving slow- although I don't know if your area was foggy like ours XD I will keep a watch on your thread, hope the appointment goes ok x

Yeah they're coming thick and fast these hay pokes! I'm not sure if it will be today or tomorrow, which day do you think would be best?

I've had more than my fair share (well my piggies have) of eye problems, so please leave me out :flag:
I'm so glad the vet got the hay out. Sometimes mine have had to have it done under anaesthetic if it has got well and truly barbed in. Hope the recovery continues x

They're such nasty things aren't they. The vet put some anaesthetic drops in before she pulled it out, Lola sat ever so well for the vet x

I'm wondering if it is time for a sticky.
Max had a nasty eye injury last year - which fortunately cleared up with treatment and Bess recently had a piece of husk which stuck on her eye like a contact lense. The vet flushed it out and it cleared up very quickly with eye drops . If feel for the Guineas and their slaves when this happens . It must be so painful for the Guineas.

I bet it would equate to a needle in our eye, compared to the guineas :(

Lola is having a check up at 3pm to check the ulcer is improving, luckily the vets are open on Sunday so we won't have to pay the emergency charge like yesterday we paid £127 lol

Chief Guinea Pig you have done so well in getting her treatment promptly, it's very likely you have saved her eye :) :hug:x
Thank you, if I left it over night and anything awful happened i'd have never forgiven myself knowing that we could've done more. It's not nice seeing them suffer is it :(

Lola was a sassy piggy I must say! She wriggled and threw her head back and forth so the vet couldn't put the drops in the eye. The vet had to get another assistant to hold Lola haha. Anyway, it looks like the ulcer hasn't got bigger, possibly gone a little smaller I'm not sure, but the vet was pleased that Lola's eye was sitting comfortably and Lola was happy in herself, that was about it, we are going going to pop back on Wednesday :)

ahh I'm so glad she got on ok, just come in from work & logged straight on to see how she was doing :)

Wow £127 bit steep - but at least the damage to the eye was minimised, if it had been rubbing against the eye like that overnight for the 9 hours or so it could have been far worse, possibly causing nasty ulceration or even irrepairable damage.

So glad you took her in & it was a good job you were observant enough to notice it so quickly.

:tu: Healing vibes & chinny tickles for the gorgeous Lola :wub:
hope she gets on ok at her checkup too... keep us updated

xx

Yeah it is expensive £127 but I'm sure it has saved further expenses if we had left it. Chinny tickles made me laugh :)) will do! I'm glad the vets took good care of her, I went to a 'well known chain' once and all they needed to do was check her fur for lice and they upset her ! x

It's reassuring when you find a vet you can trust.

:D @Chief Guinea Pig , so glad the beautiful Lola is okay now. I hate to think of anything nasty happening to these two lovely ladies. Using salt water in the eye has been mentioned in this thread a couple of times. I would not recommend this as salt can sting a great deal. Just plain clean pre-boiled water should be used. :tu:

However, we have ran out of drops to continue until Saturday? We wasted a lot before trying to get it in the eye.
