Hello, need some help please.

Have just noticed Teddy had a piece of hay sticking in the corner of his eye. I tried to take it out but it was quite wedged in there. After some gently pulling I managed to get it out.
I have bathed his eye in saline, and applied some Fucithalmic drops. His eye is looking a bit sore it looked a bit bloody underneath the bottom eye lid, and a little swollen in the white bit where the hay was, there is no discharge and he is not keeping his eye closed, he also seems happy in himself.
My question is what do I need to do now? Shall I take him to the vet tomorrow? Or have I fixed the problem? Is there anything I need to look out for?
Thanks in advance x

oh dear...
its probably worth getting him in the vets tomorow... to check its not going alserated...
hope he feels better soon and no lasting damage was caused... :(

Thank you both!
I have just checked his eye now, and there is no sign of any injury, the swelling has gone down and the eye looks completely normal Yay! Will keep a close on him the next few days.
Thanks again x

When cookie got a hay poke she was on baytril as well as the drops in case of infection so it may be worth seeing the vet about this. Cookies eye did stay swollen for the week though so its a good sign that Teddy's is looking better already.

Hope it all goes well

Thanks hun. Will take him down the vet this afternoon.

It is worth having the eye checked by a vet to make sure that it is not pierced or ulcerated. In lighter cases, you get away with a regular application of eye drops or gel like fucithalmic for about a week. When the cornea is pierced, a piggy needs to be put on antibiotics in order to prevent an infection inside the eye.
