Pippy & Daisy
Junior Guinea Pig
I think my Pippy might have a hay poke as last night I noticed her eye seemed to be irritating her a little bit and she was kind of twitching her head (the best way I can describe it but not really accurate!) as though something was bothering her but I couldn't tell if it was her eye or her ear or something else. She didn't do it again this morning but then did the same thing this afternoon a couple of times but then stopped again. I checked her ears and they seemed fine and her eyes seemed fine, although one did look a little watery but I thought that was just my imagination going wild with worry as no one else seemed to think it was watery at all. Then this evening I noticed she did the head shake thing again and then squeezed her eye almost completely closed so I figured it must be that that's irritating her. I took her out and checked her eye and it doesn't look to be swollen and I can't see anything in there but it was definitely bothering her. She has it open now and she's eating and behaving in every other way as usual so my guess is that she just has something in there or poked herself in the eye - she does like to dig through the hay and I've seen her nearly get poked a few times - but I'm going to take her down to the vets tomorrow (only a week after having Daisy in there, they'll be sick of seeing me haha) to get it seen to and hopefully fixed up.
Just to try and ease my worry, does this sound like just a hay poke or as though she has something stuck, or could it be something else? It definitely only popped up last night so I really don't think it's been going on for long at all but I do worry about them whenever something isn't normal. It's not swollen or cloudy and there's no pus, just a little watery and irritating for her.
