Truffle in the wars again as soon as I came home from work I noticed straightaway she wasn't herself sitting puffed up in the hay tray looking sorry for herself! I noticed her eye looked watery so got her out and just under her bottom lid was like a husk quite large. Her eye looks clear and not cloudy but her lid looks very red. Could I bathe it with some warm salty water? I used just warm water at the time. Oh she's back to herself already just had some thistles and has now buried herself under hay again aaaarrgh!

Please have her seen by a vet tomorrow to have the eye checked for scratches which could ulcerate in the next few days (i.e. go cloudy on the surface). Your vet will need to dye the eye to check it for injuries; not just the eye lid. Please use sterile saline solution for washing if at all possible as it is disinfecting.

Poor Truffle. I echo what @Wiebke says. Eyes ulcerate very quickly so please get a vet to check for injuries to the cornea. Hay pokes can be quite nasty.
