Quinn is back from the vets with a green eye and a bad temper.

He has a small ulcer on his eye and now I've to try and put gel on it...Having lots of luck :))

Think I'll just :hb:

That's just rotten luck @theoretikos but you are a devoted owner, You Spotted it quickly and he's had speedy diagnosis and treatment. You'll soon develop a head wrangling technique for administering drops and he'll forgive you eventually. Hugs xx

The good news is that you have caught it early, so it should heal quickly, too. The first couple of days are always worst - it is while the eye is sore. Try to distract Quinn by letting him dive into a bowl of grass, readigrass or his favourite treats. Then once his is fully absorbed in munching away, sneak up his blind angle from behind. I have found that the most effictive way if you have to do it by yourself. It may still take more than one attempt, but not as many as otherwise. In the way the ulcer is coming down, it should get easier.

Thanks Wiebke, will try and get him that way! He's popcorning and wheeking like there's nothing wrong thankfully :) x

@Guineapigfeet and @VickiA I has to give him eye gel for conjunctivitis when he was a baby and it was hard :))

Sadie and Stella made full recoveries when they had hay pokes, it took me 3 weeks of applying eye drops twice daily. Thankfully, they were perfect patients and sat quietly on my lap without struggling. Well both sat still, Sadie was quiet, Stella thought I was murdering her and screamed the shed down! :))

Piggies are such divas :))

Oh no :( Sorry this has happen just what you didn't need. Love to the Quinn x

Wish your guinea pig better! :)

Oreo (my piggie) had hay poke earlier this year. He had an abscess (I think, can't remember) on his eye. I was given drops to put on three times a day for 5-7 days (again not too sure) with a check up after a few days. He's thankfully made a full recovery. I was also lucky to have a model patient AKA a very lazy guinea pig.

I'm sure your piggie will get completely better very soon :). Have you tried blanket/towel wrapping to keep him still?
