Ginny's left eye was quite weepy a few hours ago. I assumed this was grooming fluid he hadn't bothered with in his age and wiped it off. However, he seems to be narrowing it and seems sunken in :( I do recall a small/tiny piece of hay coming from one eye a few days ago, I can't remember which. I have an apt booked tomorrow, will this do? I'm quite worried, I've no idea how long this has been developing. If he ends up needing it removed I'm not sure he'll make it through the anaesthesia

You'll be fine until tomorrow. The vet will check it for you to make sure the hay is out. They'll stain the eye to check for damage and give you some eye drops ifneeded. You can also ask for some Metacam if you think he needs it

Can you see anything at all in the eye? It could be a bit has poked him or scratched it. I agree with the appointment youve booked. :) good luck

Aside from that, his stomach is making sounds and a bit of his poo is tear dropped and small, one came out a bit stringy :( I think I've been too confident feeding him veg after slowly returning him to it after the gas or bloat situation.

It sounds like he's his a mild tummy issue. There's probably one of the veg that's upsetting it. You can try to work out which by stopping his veg and then slowly introducing something new every few days until you find out which one it is.

One of my boys couldn't eat green pepper and one of my current boys has issues with tomato and dill.

Thanks x really appreciate the help/advice. Can it be damaging taking him off veg so quickly after a few weeks ago? In any case I recall giving him a bit more green beans than usual yesterday and a tiny bit of spring green. It might be either of those two. Is spring green quite gas/bloat-inducing?

It's probably the spring green. My Jon doesn't do too well if he has too much of it.

Try taking that out of his diet completely and see how he goes. When Jon gets a bit of dill by accident his tum settles within 12 hours or so, so you should see/hear a difference quite soon.

Thank x so I can stop his veg for tonight and resume slowly returning to veg tomorrow? Also, sorry for bothering you with so many questions, but as a majority of his poos are teardropped would it be worth syringe feeding a bit of extra water?

Edit - his poos seem to be firming up after a massage which is good, still a tad teardropped with stomach noises

Good luck at the vets. A simple drop in the eye will identify whether there is any scratching or ulceration of the cornea caused by a foreign body. If there is, then it can usually be cured with antibiotic drops and some corneal repair gel. Please let us know how you get on.

Taking him and the girls to Taverham :) I'm not the one driving, my mum does and she hates driving further than 30mins (40-60min drive) so roadworks is a negative lol.

Thanks :) I tried syringe feeding him but he was refusing it outright, I'm not even sure if the water got into his mouth. He's still drinking and his poos are looking better as of now, so I didn't want to risk choking him while he complained.

Also, not sure if this needs a thread so hope it's ok to just post here - Peppa must've bashed her tooth on something as a tiny bit of the bottom of her left top teeth has gone. She seems to be fine, eating from what I can see and pretty active. Is this ok? It's not even close to halfway so it should grow back?

yes it will grow back quickly,a week.i would chop the veg into small strips, cubes.maybe weight daily to ensure maintaining weight.hope all goes well,my vet is an hour away from my place !x

Thanks :) I'll start chopping the veg tomorrow (they've already eaten). Must admit I do weigh daily for all of them, Ginny especially due to his age and weight issues but also the girls to do altogether. Edit- Could it be possible she broke them on the JR Farm Grainless pellet food? They seem quite hard comapred to other brands I've used. I did notice black stuff at the bottom back of her front teeth for the past few days but a bit came off on a tissue. Has disappeared after checking them after veg time though

What do you do in an emergency? I have a vet nearby that I trust for emergencies or issues non-dental etc

About to go to vets, of course it's twenty two degrees today. More worried about how the girls are long haired :( taking some cucumber and water bottles

On way back :) had a panicky trip as it was absolutely boiling but they all seem fine, bit worried anyway by heat.

They were all checked over. Ginny has an eye ulcer that we've been given treatement for and also something called Dualcare by Burgess. She said to get up his weight, fed dry or wet/syringe feed. Is it like critical care? Thanks

Eye looking better, not a lot of discharge :) bit unsure about the DualCare, can I mix it with JR Farm Grainless or will I need to take him off JR Farm Grainless until he's off DualCare? Also, he's with the girls so they'd consume it also, not sure how good that will be for them if they're already ok

@CarnivalPiggy According to Google it's "complimentary" so he can have both. Also, as it's for use to try to get piggies to eat when they're ill then it'll be fine for the girls to eat too.

Is he losing weight? If he's not then I personally wouldn't feed it as normal pellets. I would either give it to him as a treat, or I'd keep it until I was in a situation where I needed to hand feed a pig

Thanks x he's been losing just a bit more lately, I'd weigh him now but I weigh at 9pm and don't want to get overzealous with it again. I'll put a tiny handful in and see. Gave him a few bits yesterday when I got home, he's not a fussy pig lol
