I've been looking at the Hay For Pets website after seeing it on here. This might be a daft question, but do the different types if hay taste different? I'm assuming so but thought I'd check!

I am going to buy the samples and see what what my piggies think! I'm looking to include more variety for them, so hoping they will like having different types of hay.

Thanks!

If you have a b&m near you they have started doing a good timothy hay and they also do one with dandelions

I find meadow hay smells sweeter than ings and timothy. prob tastes sweeter too maybe? Ings smells more floral and Timothy smells like grass...ob this is all my own personal opinion. I've ended up giving all these 3 to my boys. I bought B&M and they wouldn't touch it! Fussy lil men.

You must have cheeky boys! Mine mostly eat what they are given. Except for one day last week when all 18 went on hunger strike. I went to check on them and noticed Joel hadnt touched his nuggets I panicked as he has been neutered recently and thought something must be wrong. But then I saw all the other cages were the same! I alternate science selective with asda. They had all got together and plotted not to eat the SS.

I topped up their bowls with asda nuggets and all 18 instantly ran to their bowls and started munching. They are so naughty! Lol

My two are too spoilt. .. thats the problem lol. I've just bought them Oxbox botanical hay too...so now thats 4 ... I'm broody and not allowed a baby yet so my boys get alot of love and constant presents lol!

I know what you mean mine are seriously hurting my purse! I am not really wanting kids, I get scared of babies and really am not interested in other people's kids. My pigs are my kids and I'd be happy for it to stay that way forever. Every shop I go in I look for things I can adapt for pigs whether it is morrisons or b and q. They always get new toys, hideys etc.

I look for things to adapt too!

My real 'babies' are 13 and 17 so I just have fur babies now!

I'd never heard of B&N, but I searched and we do have one in Leicester, right next to pets at home! Not sure how I haven't seen it!

Thanks for the hay advice, I'll try the samples and look elsewhere!

mine dont like expensive hay, just cheap stuff.Wont touch anything else

I've tried Ings hay from Hay for Pets smells lovely and the smell doesn't fade. Very long strands
Timothy and Rye (makes me sneeze but I like how it feels when I'm separating it out) it is very coarse and my girls absolutely love the stuff unfortunately Rory doesn't seem that keen, so for my next order I've got samples to try him on. If it means buying a medium bag so so be it. Anything to make him happy.
Meadow I haven't ever tried but I did consider at one point using it more bedding as it seemed softer... I'll know once the samples arrive :)

I'm sure if you drop Hay for Pets an emails they can give you further information if needed

I took your advice on here and I bought a4.5kg bag of the Ings hay from Hay for Pets and my boys all love it!

Hi, I thought Timothy hay is what adult piggies are supposed to eat lots of daily. Babies can also have alfalfa hay. Am I mistaken? Thanks.

I knew this lady who would grow grass in little pots for her cat to nibble on in the winter. Would piggies eat that kind of grass, as a treat, besides the hay?

Any hay like Timothy, meadow is good for piggies. Alfalfa should not be fed to adults piggies but as you say for babies its fine. I feed my two boys on Ings and the meadow from Hay for pets. I also give them Oxbox Botonical and I have fresh grass in a pot on the window growing thanks to @Wiebke for that advice! I stopped feeding Timothy as they went off it a bit and you get far more Ings for your money and it is very good quality. The boys love it.
