I have had my new piggies for 4 days now and whilst they do eat their veggies they don't eat any or very little hay. It is meadow hay, should I try a different brand or wait a few more days to see if they are just getting used to it.

I have the hay in a hay bag and also put it in their pigloo and house.

Any advice would be appreciated

If you can afford some more hay , it would be a good idea to get another brand anyway. My guinea pigs love to have a variety of hays .

Piggies can be a bit picky, for example I have 10, 8 like the Ings I get from hay for pets and the other two sort of like it, but because 80% of their diet is hay, we now give those two meadow hay which they seem to enjoy.

As Piggyowner said they do like a variety :) You could always try some nice Timothy hay.

Sometimes piggies take a while to settle in to their new environment so it may just take time. They will also choose nuggets over hay too if given more than they need.
I only give my guineas about an egg cup worth of nuggets per day. I buy farm bales of hay and it depends on how good it is how much of it they eat lately though they have been eating a lot more than they normally do x

Mine love alfafa king thimathy hay, the all eat it entusiasticly , they also like yorkshire igns

It can be trial and error to find hay they like. Maybe try local pet supply/farm stores tro see if they have any local hay - this can often be quite economical and is very fresh.

There are some great online suppliers to

We have used dustfreehay in the past Dust Free Hay, quality hay and straw via mail order Their soft hay is well liked

Oxbow Timothy hay is well liked too, we feed a meadow hay and timothy daily

:D "Hay For Pets" do little sample bags of Ings, Meadow and Timothy hay so that you can see which one your piggies like best without committing to a big bag or bale that may get wasted. My herd definitely prefer the Ings best, with Meadow coming second.
