hello all,

i remember seeing a post on here somewhere regarding hay racks, which ones are not suitable? which ones do you recommend?

Dindy has the standard V shaped green wire one that seems to be on sale everywhere at £4 to £5. She rattles it when it needs filling, which tends to be two or three times a day.

I use a bent gird that i had extra for my cage and ziptied it to one of the sides. Then put a old pet store cage under with shavings. That way the hay and shaving dont get on the fleece.

i just remember seeing a post about certain ones being dangerous for them and i cant find it anywhere?

Does anyone know which ones it was?

My guinea pigs do not really eat from their hay rack but we still give it to them anyway. It came with the eglu and run, but it is smooth and the water bottle attatches to it. When they were tiny, two of them used to fit in it!

I have two of those green ones that you see everywhere but I have been told they are dangerous. They do frighten me as mine pull them off and then eat out of them and I'm scared they may poke themselfs with the hook bits of get their head stuck when it is lead on the floor!

Anyone with any other types please post!

I think I might try and bend mine so it can't be easily pulled off the bars. Plastic one wouldn't work in my C&C as it wouldn't sit right and the hay would just fall out bottom if I put it on the back!
