Hay seems very dry

Just opened a pack of hay it's the timothy hay from P@H

And it seems very dry and sharp almost looks like straw as it's yellow and has little green to it.

Is this OK? Piggies seem to be eating it. But just checking

Should be fine, just sounds like bad quality. Its damp hay you need to look out for.

Try b and m or the range timothy hay. Its much better than pets@home. And its only £2

P@H hay can be very variable in quality, but after the summer heatwave a lot of hay looks a bit dodgy- and Amazon have run out of burgess excel timothy hay altogether!
Supreme Selective timothy hay from Amazon is good, but a bit sharp- also Pillow Wad meadow hay from Amazon is so green and soft its almost like freshly cut grass it smells lovely and we've never had a bad batch, I fill my piggies "hay room" with that and the piggies roll around in it and make nests and then eat them

Hay quality seems very poor after our hot summer. I have stopped buying from Nature's Own as it has been almost like dried grass cuttings.
I am currently buying Ings hay from hay-and-straw.co.uk and it is very good quality. They also sell a Timothy and rye hay mix which is also very nice. The cost is £18 for 9.5kg.

Ive been having the same problem and can’t find decent hay anywhere!

I can’t find decent hay anywhere at the minute, the best I can find is five a day hay, but it’s really dusty/

I get the Burgess hay from p@h rather than their own brand which is often very poor in my experience. Otherwise I'll get hay from the garden centre - it's Meadow hay but I've forgotten the brand.

Do you have a farm that sells hay near you? I get the sweetest smelling best organic green hay from a farm about half an hour from my house for 6 quid a farm bale.

. I have been getting my hay from the same farm for nearly 3 years and not had a problemy late Mum for straw from the same farm for over 30 years and never had a problem with pests or anything like that. Come to think of it I got hay for my Rainbow Piggies there too for 5 and a half years.

Good quality hay seems to be becoming quite expensive. Yours should be fine for the piggies though.
