With all the damp weather for ages, each time I get a bag of hay and open it, it goes off, like this moldy spore dust and smells moldy. I keep my bags sealed tightly shut when I dont get hay out, but it still happens, and its a real waste of money because these are big bags that would last me a long time normally. I dont really want to switch to buying little bags because those are expensive for what they are, but I cant think how else to keep the hay from going bad.

Hi, I was just wondering where you keep it and in what? I'm not sure it's a good idea to keep them tightly sealed, it needs to be able to breathe therefore try not to keep them in plastic. I keep the stuff I'm using in a wicker basket beside by the piggies and the rest in an old pillow case (you could use an old duvet cover if you have big bales) This way air can circulate and should keep it fresher. Hope this helps!

The plastic seems to be the problem I suppose. I always just kept it in the bag it came in, which is always plastic. Never knew you had to keep the air circulating. Thank you, I will look into keeping it in paper bags or something.
