Ok i got my piggies today, and i am confused ") doesn't take a lot!
The lady i got them off was lovely but has only sent them with straw and not hay, is there a difference?
Plus their pellets say guinea on them but have squashed corn and stuff, but i read it shouldn't have coloured bits?

Hi guineas should have hay not straw. Hay is much softer so less chance of eye pokes etc.
What make pellets have you got?

Piggies need hay, not straw to eat. I used Wagg Guinea pig food as I was told that some others contain colours etc that aren't good for them. They also need a supply of fresh veg every day, or access to grazing on a weed & moss free lawn that hasn't been treated.

Thanx, i thought so, they have veggies and access to the grass. It's brand new house so untreated grass and their hutch is connected to a run so free access.
Can't remember the name of the food, it's in my shed so will find it out tomorrow and will get them some meddow hay!

Hay, not straw.
If you can get hay thats mostly green in colour it's even better.

hiya, I buy a large bale of hay from the local farm shop it is only about £6.50 so if you have the space to store well worth the purchase or perhaps a bit of a car journey. I also have used p@h nuggets and also burgess excell and the pigs ate them but have just bought a large sack of Mr johnsons guinea pig food and they are going bananas and unlike other muselis they are eating it all not picking bits out. Farm shops are so much cheaper if you are lucky enough to be able to get to one.
