Hello
My guinea pig had a piece of hay stuck on the tip of his nose. I have tried to get it off with no joy.
Will he be able to get it off himself or should I take him the vets?
When I pull at it he squeaks loudly, but doesn't seem to be bothering him unless i pull on it. It is quite a sharp piece.
I'm not going to distress him anymore, do i wait to see if of his still there in the morning?

Could you try to cut a bit off and then leave it to come off by itself?

His nose is very pink around it though and I worry that if I cut it then it will be more difficult to get out.

If it is a seed head it could be starting to embed itself. I had that with Velvet a couple of weeks ago when a seed head had got into her eye and was starting to embed itself into her eye lid:vom:. The vet said that seed heads tended to do that. It took a very steady hand and a pair of forceps to remove it. I hope your piggy is OK.

If this was one of my pigs l would take him to the vets today

I think a trip to the vets is needed today. Hope the vet can get it out easily for him.
