Hay testing

Today, the Oxbow hay sample pack (and box of readigrass) that I ordered from Animal Magic arrived. I was a little bit too excited about this...

Anyway, the samples were western timothy, orchard grass, oat hay and botanical hay. It's the greenest hay I've ever seen and smells lovely. So this evening the piggies set to work taste testing it for me (it's hard work but someone's got to do it):

Mmmm I can't get enough of this!

Maggie wanted to check the label on the bag so she knew what she was about to eat

And Popcorn knew she was eating something very tasty even though she couldn't really see it through that fringe!

And the results........Oat hay was the most popular with everyone, followed by orchard grass, then western timothy, with botanical hay the least favourite (and most expensive!). What a good idea these sample bags are!

Thanks very much! I can't take the credit though, my fiance takes and processes them and he has informed me his camera is a Canon EOS 20D. He's a semi-pro photographer, here's his website if you're interested

I wondered whether other piggies would agree. I'm glad they like the most expensive one least!

Mine love Burns Green Oat Hay the best. It's a lot cheaper than the Oxbow one so that's lucky.

Hi Bubble - absolutely adorable piggies you have there! And very good pictres too....I especially like the 'sad piggy eyes' one!

Can I ask how you get hold of the samples? Do companies just offer these to customers?

Also, I'm from just out of Birmingham.....I've been amazed at how many forum members come from the Midlands! Obviously, us Midlanders have exceedingly good taste in pets!

Love the idea of sample bags, mine would love it too! They are currently getting endless amusement out of the bags Sainsburys have for putting mushrooms in - we snaffled an extra couple when we were there and they just about fit, and spend lots of fun chewing on them!

Storm wanted to say hi to Maggie as she thinks they look alike ...
