Hay there....

Just wondering how much hay other piggies eat? Have had 2 pairs of sows previously who used to love it and munch through what seemed like tonnes. Now I have 2 boars and they don't seem to each much at all. They are bedded on it, but there's also some extra in a rack which they barely seem to touch. Use a mix of timothy and meadow hays. ?/

My five girls love Burgess Excel Herbage and get through two - three bags a week - I usually refill their hay racks up three or four times a day I also sprinkle friendly readigrass in with it which they love They will not touch any other hay, although saying that I bought a bag of dandelion and cammomile for my bunny and they had a bit of that which they seemed quite interested in

Forgot to say that the dandelion and cammomile hay is by scratch and newton.
The readigrass is by friendship estates - friendship estates sent me a free sample for my bunny and my piggies to try - they have a helpline number on their website.

George used to eat a hayrack a day or there abouts but since I started putting hay in his bedroom it hardly even goes down much (I seem to throw a lot away). I think he must like the taste of the stuff he's dirtied more, either that or he gets hungry in the night & is too lazy to get out of his bed

Hhmm.. so far.. my two piggers go through about 1.5lbs of hay a week, I think. So that would be about 6 1/2 pounds a month.
