How on earth do you guys who keep your piggies on fleece keep the hay away or any tips on removing the hay from the fleece for the washer, am sure the washer wont appreciate it :))

I use a dustpan & brush & brush as much off as i can before i clean their cages then take it outside & brush it again. So far so good :)

I try to shake off as much as i can then i use the nozzle from the hoover to do the rest.

Also I try to keep the hay to one area on some newspaper. But can never get it all off. After I have washed it I then put the machine on a rinse and spin cycle to get any excess hay and hair moving out so it doesnt get on the clothes

ahhhh never thought about the hoover opps ")

umm can you not brugh the hay off with a strong brush ? or run a hoover over it ?

I clean every second day. I do pick up as much as I can but to get rid of everything I shake each fleece on a compost! Ridding it of all hay. I can then safely wash it! Not over keen on fleece but can't have wet hay in the house, does my nose no good!

Love my pigs, but they kept me up last night messing about and lost 3 hours kip! Buggered today! Roll on when they can go back in the shed in March! :(|)

I put fleece down on the run part of the piggies house - I try to shake off as much hay as possible then put the fleeces in a secured old pillow case for washing. Could you try putting the hay in a litter tray or hay rack to try and contain it in one space only?

it is a difficult one to solve.....

Now I feel dumb with all these good sugestions coming in :red never mind lol
Well today I tried the hoover option but with it being a dyson it nearly took the fleece to so just shook it out of the window haha but next I'll try the pillow case thanks Andic :))

Never dumb questions, if we don't all share ideas we will never learn! Keep asking away.:)

I pop my gangs bits into an old pillow case and secure the end with a hair elastic - works a treat and keeps any little bits I might have missed out of my machine!

i just hoover mine off with a pet hoover and shake it - we've had the washign machine checked and there is no clogging and been doing it for a year now.

i usually brush everything i can up, take it outside for a shake then hoover off any remaining bits (although i have to be careful the hoover doesnt suck the whole lot up, i can never get it all off but the majority comes off!

I was watching how clean is you house the other day and they were talking about dusting small ornaments, she said if you put a pair of old tights over the end of the hoover nozzle you can suck the dust off without sucking the object up. I know that was random and off subject but i thought it was a handy tip to know!
