hi there i recently bought a bag of compressed hay by a company called animal dreams only problem ive found is its full of dust and now I'm not sure what to buy next what do you all use for your piggies and how much do you all roughly pay for a bag of hay i need to find a product that will feed 7 piggies all advice welcomed

I have found fantastic hay that I buy from a horse farm. 10 kilos (a bag that comes up to my chest!) cost me 7 pounds and it lasts a little over a month for my trio (I like to give them heaps to play and snuggle in too). I live in Sweden, but I know a lot of people in the UK get farm hay too. It pays to shop around! I never knew hay could be so different before I got piggies!

I give farm hay too - but for bedding. It's £3.50 for the same amount as Petra. However I have seen the hay Petra gets and it's amazing - really green.

For food in racks I feed Oxbow and I pay approx £60 for 22.5kg which per kilo isn't all that bad for really good hay. I have to say they will eat the farm hay too but in racks they will only eat Oxbow.

i tried lots of different hays but i recently bought some dust free hay from animal magic pet supplies and the piggies love it and no dust so i'm happy to and only £3 a bag :)

My girls have hay for sitting on and hay for eating.

For bedding I usually use the Pets at Home hay. I know it's more expensive than farm hay but the quality is pretty good it's usually nice and soft plus it's very convenient for me to pick up. We don't have space to store a bale either :(

As for eating, they love Oxbow Timothy Hay and Orchard Grass drool . I usually only buy the mid-size bags though (no storage space again :( ) but am not particularly loyal to any supplier. I've used thehayexperts.co.uk a coupleof times and been impressed with their service though

Sorry - not much help there was I! ")

I've bought the Oxbow Orchard Grass box of hay. If you want to trial these first there are sample packs on The Hay Experts and Animal Magic Pet Supplies websites. But if you can afford to spend that much in one go and have somewhere to store the box, it's worth the money definately! My piggles love it.

I found out that the german zooplus site sells hay, it's €16 for a 14kg bale, which is pretty cheap. That'd be about £13. It's a huge bale and they love the hay. I used to buy normal pet shop hay, but this is much greener and must taste a lot nicer because they love it. I'm sure it's probably not as green as really fancy stuff, but it's pretty green. I'd definitely recommend it. They also sell it in 2.5kg bags, but it'd be cheaper if you can buy the big one and have somewhere to store it, like a spare room or shed.

It's a bit hard to find your way around the german website though! I don't even speak German, but there are websites that will translate the page!

I buy pets at home hay for bedding and timothy hay for the hay rack(which they hardly touch, instead i catch them eating their bedding hay) rolleyes lol

I feed a combination of Oxbow and Just Grass - the Just Grass isn't a hay per se, but it is great as a "cheaper" forage for them to eat and potter about on, while the Oxbow is their real feast hay.

I did use Dust Free Hay for a while but chose to switch back to Oxbow a month or two ago. I buy the 22kg boxes for my 15 pigs, lasts around 6 weeks when fed daily in conjunction with the Just Grass.

As treat hays my lot love Vitakraft VitaVerde, but it's only sold in small bags. Alpine Meadow hay also goes down well and is usually of gorgeous quality.
