I am looking at buying different hay for my piggies as the quality of the hay at pets at home doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be.

I seem to be having trouble finding good quality hay that is available to be shipped over to the uk.

Where does everyone buy their hay from and roughly how long does it last?

I've found a bulk of Timothy hay (15kg) for £30 .. Seems like a good price but was just wondering where everyone buys theirs from.

Thanks!

I buy grass and oat hay from the hay experts and ings hay from hay for pets. If my partner was not allergic to Timothy hay then I would buy that from the hay experts too. Their hay is a lovely quality. You get what you pay for with hay.

I too am allergic to Timothy hay....I've found the pah stuff really bad this time, very dusty. Smokey has switched to oxbow orchard meadow hay and seems to like it. He also has the dandelion and marigold forage thing from pah x

Thank you! [emoji5]️ has anyone ever bought any hay from eBay? They seem to have big bales for good prices!

That was my concern, the seller has had lots of reviews from people buying the hay and there are no bad reviews

Excel hay for fibrevores from Kennel gate, I am lucky, I have 4 kennel gate stores near me, and if pushed 2 pets at home stores. I have loads of contacts on farms, but would not feed farm hay as I have had a mite problem from baled hay in the past.

Yeah. My piggies had mites from pets at home hay which is why I'm really wanting to change it, what causes mites in hay?

Not sure, I assume it was because it had been in a barn and other rodents had been near it or in it.
I expect excel hay to have some sort of guarantee on it. Kennel gate sell loose bagged hay, I wouldn't touch that.

all hay has mites. but cheap hay and hay that has been poorly stored, will have more. i would recommend trying hay for pets next. it's the cheapest per kg i think, and good quality :)

I use hay for pets, I've had no trouble with mites etc, my 9kg bag cost me £16 including delivery it's lasted me two months so far and I'm only half way trough it, I have three boars and only use this hay for feeding.

I use the Hay Experts and mine have Oxbow Orchard grass, Burns Green oat hay and Alfalfa King Timothy hay, plus meadow hay which I buy locally. I also sometimes order from www.timothyhay.co.uk
