What kind of hay do you use?

I use brome grass and Ray really likes it, but I've heard alfalfa and timothy are good too.

I use supreme meadow hay and sometimes timithy hay or excel forage for the racks :)

mine have meadow hay for sleeping in and eating, i have a bag of oat hay which they LOVE! and i have a bag of timothy, and i also but herbal hay too from pets at home, but i go a sample of it from pampered piggies and they are loving that herbal hay from them!

Timothy hay is for eating use medow hay for the bedding, keep up with grass it has vit c in it so thts good but u want medow hay timothy hay aint nessicicary but it is good for thier teeth, don't use alfalfa hay unless your piggie is a baby or pregnant so in other word if you bought your piggie from a store then you dont need alfalfa hay unless she is pregnant but i doubt RAY would get pregnant lol

Barn dried hay it's £1.85 for a large bag that lasts me and 5 pigs a wheek! It's the timothy hay kind and the pigs love it! :)

you plus if you buy it from the farm then it is alot cheaper so thats always good plus they seem to like it more lol strange little things aint they lol

Meadow hay and Timmy hay here! Just a handful of the Oxbow timothy though because it costs a fortune. It's a lovely treat for them though.

With farm hay you do have to be careful that its not dusty. Word of mouth pays and I'm getting my next batch online for £7.99 including del that will do. Although Peter said the pigguns don't need to sleep in hay as they are indoors now. Maybe not but they enjoy it more! :D

tue they do love the stuff plus it good for their little teeth and its a good bed nice and cozy :)

I use a couple of different ones. Mine have meadow hay, P@H Timothy Hay and Excel Herbage. :)

I have Oxbow alfalfa pellets as my piggy's food! :D

I voted for Timothy hay... but they also have meadow hay as bedding (and excel herbage - which has tim hay in it, as a treat). O0 O0 O0

Spoilt! :D ;D

Dustfree meadow hay for eating/bedding and timothy or oat hay for their racks :)

I use a mixture of varieties. Best this year is Dust Free Hay and Burns Oat hay.

2 People have voted they dont use hay....surely they are joking? :-\

yeah thats what I'm thinking ? Maybe just a joke xx0 If someone is that sad to not give there piggys hay for either food or bedding then they havent learnt anything from this forum :-\

yeah i think it must be a joke, hopefully! but if it is its not a very good one :-\

maybe they dont have pigs at the moment?

I hope thats the case. Piggies with no hay doesnt bear thinking about. :-\

They have unlimited meadow hay, then every so often they'll have a couple of handfuls of timmy/herbal/oat/alpine hay. They also get a handful of readigrass between them most days ;).

I thought I'd be really resourceful and get my woodshavings and hay from Tesco and get extra points (we're saving Airmiles to go to America). Their hay is awful! It's all just really small bits and I think it's probably just what's left on the barn floor, needless to say I didn't buy any and will stick to the pet shops!

I buy Sainsburys hay in emergencys, and its not too bad! Its a little bit dusty, but its quite green and smells nice.

Usually prefer nice timothy or meadow hay though.

Tesco's Hay is bad. Can't believe people wouldn't give Hay, it's what pigs need the most! It's a critical part of their diet, not only for digestion but to keep their teeth down.

Hmmm, I'd like to know who voted no hay. Perhaps they dont know how much piggies need hay! We need to educate them! ;D

but if they are members on this forum surely they would know they need hay. :-\
